Our VCE Outdoor and Environmental Studies students had an engaging experience of wave pool surfing at UrbnSurf Melbourne. As part of the study, students explored the various barriers that can impact people’s participation in outdoor activities. We also explored how advancements in technology have improved equipment and facilities, making outdoor experiences more inclusive for some—though sometimes at a higher cost that can limit accessibility for others.
Additionally, the students gained valuable insights into safety measures, risk management, and first aid practices essential for participating in outdoor activities. This hands-on experience helped deepen their understanding of both the challenges and precautions involved in outdoor recreation.

Another exciting day of our outdoor education was rock climbing at You Yangs Regional Park! Kicking off with a safety briefing and beginner’s lesson, everyone was set to climb with confidence. But the adventure did not stop there - students participated in many other outdoor challenges such as orienteering, navigating and participating in activities that challenged them physically and mentally.
These are days full of adventure, learning, and connection to nature!
