Level 6

We're a great mix in Level 6!

Welcome to term 4! We have an exciting term ahead with lots of activities and events happening as the students head towards their final weeks of primary school. Students are looking forward to camp in week 6 and our Big Day Out and Graduation towards the end of term. More information on these will be sent home and posted on Compass closer to the dates.

A reminder that hats are compulsory for all students in term 4. Please ensure your child has a named broad rimmed or bucket hat in order to participate in PE and any other outdoor activities.

Writing

As part of our writing this term, students will be reflecting on their learning through primary school in the form of a scrapbook. Each week students will write about a year level with a focus on 7 different genres of writing (one genre for each year level).  The genres we will be using are recount, narrative, persuasive, letter, poetry, information and explanation text.

We would like all of our Level 6 students to purchase a scrapbook to create their Reflections of Primary School. These can be found in Big W and Kmart for $9 if you haven’t purchased one already. (They are more expensive in art shops). Students can bring some scrapbooking supplies to school, as well as photos to add to their scrapbooks.

Maths

We have continued learning about and plotting on Cartesian Planes. Students have begun to identify and experiment with rotating, translating and transforming shapes on a 2D plane. Students were also introduced to 3D Cartesian planes and used Minecraft Education to help identify and plot co-ordinates.

Inquiry

Our topic this term in Inquiry is geography. Students have already begun learning about what geography is and the evolution through time of how geography has shaped our world today. A lot of our learning has been integrated into our Reading sessions where students have also been refining their reading skills in identifying the main idea of a text and summarising what they have read.
