Dear LPS families,
Building belonging through fun: The power of dress-up days at LPS
At Lysterfield Primary School, our culture is built not just in classrooms, but in the laughter, colour, and creativity that fill our corridors on special days like Pyjama Day, Cultural Day, Book Week, and the Happy Hat Parade. These events may seem light-hearted and fun, and they are, but their impact on our school community runs deep.
Days like these bring our values of community, respect, and Pegasus Spirit to life. When students and staff come together in themed dress-ups, everyone gets a chance to express themselves, celebrate together, and strengthen the sense of connection that makes LPS such a special place to learn and grow. Whether it’s donning cosy pyjamas, stepping into a favourite storybook character, or creating a colourful hat masterpiece, these moments allow students to see school as a place where they can both belong and shine.
Beyond the joy and laughter, these events help build a positive school culture, one where students feel proud of their school, supported by their peers, and valued by their teachers. They also provide opportunities for families to engage, whether through helping craft costumes, attending parades, or sharing photos and stories. Each celebration becomes a small but meaningful way to connect home and school.
At LPS, we know that learning flourishes in a community that feels connected. That’s why we cherish these days of fun and creativity, because behind every Easter hat and superhero cape lies something truly powerful: a deep sense of community, connection, and pride in being part of the Pegasus family.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Kristine Roose | Assistant Principal - Learning & Teaching
