Scotsburn Working Bee Thursday 23 October

This Thursday, we have our working bee to get our veggie patch back up and running. With the help of Ian Rossiter (our resident grounds and garden volunteer and Mrs Morgan’s father) and our grant received from the Community Bank Buninyong, we will be getting all hands-on deck to prepare garden beds, plant veggies, construct compost bays, cover greenhouse - plus a few more jobs!

We will be running the working bee from 2:00pm - 4:30pm, so that all of the students can be involved in the process, giving them ownership of the space. Any parents willing and able to help out, we would love to see you - either from 2:00pm, or from 3:30pm - 4:30pm.

Working Bee Details

When: Thursday 23rd October

Where: Scotsburn Veggie Patch

Time: 2:00pm - 4:30pm

What you can bring: if you have an extra wheelbarrow and shovel, bring them along

Family Groups - Sustainability and Gardening

Last Friday in the Sustainability Group, we did some preparation for the upcoming working bee. All students got their hands dirty, weeding and cleaning up the veggie patch, ready for planting later this week. After all the hard work, we finished off with a fun game in the shed.

Buninyong Community Playgroup Art Incursion

Students from both classes loved the art incursion last Friday. The sun was shining, meaning we were able to paint out on the concrete. In small groups, students decorated wooden flowers, which will be displayed at Barkly Square next month as part of a joint community exhibition. The theme of the activity and installation is around inclusion and friendship - important themes to be focussing on.

If you are interested in having a look at the exhibition, it will be held at Barkley Square in Ballarat (25-39 Barkley Street, Ballarat East) on November 15, from 10:00am - 2:00pm. A massive thank you to Belinda and the Buninyong Community Playgroup for organising the experience for us!

Colour Run - this Friday 24th October

The Colour Run is this week! For Scotsburn students, we will be spending the entire day at the Buninyong campus, given that we also have a whole school assembly on that day. Event details have now been posted on Compass - please have a look and if you have any questions about the afternoon, please come and see us!

Pick up and drop off will be at the Buninyong Campus

Mr Morgan Gets Slimed!

As part of the build-up to the Colour Run this Friday afternoon, Mr Rodgers came up to the Scotsburn campus last Thursday for a surprise sliming! Guess who he had in his sights - Mr Morgan! Click on the link below for all the action and fun:

Scotsburn SleepoverThursday 30 October - Friday 31 October

Our Scotsburn Sleepover is also not far away - Thursday and Friday of next week, 30 October - 31 October. As a reminder, please this week provide consent and payment on Compass, as we as return medical forms to the classroom teachers.

This year students will go home after school to gather their belongings, have dinner at home and prepare for the sleepover. Students are invited to return to school at 6:30pm for a night of activities and a light supper. Breakfast, snacks and lunch will be provided for the following day.

Students will need the following:

  • Sleeping bag and pillow
  • Mattress
  • Pyjamas
  • Toiletries
  • Clothes for the following day (casual dress day - suitable attire, closed shoes, no singlets)
  • Water bottle
  • Camping chair for the movie

A reminder to please not bring any large swags or tent structures - unfortunately we just won’t have room for them!

Movie Night

This year will see the return of the movie night with the giant screen on the oval! Should any families and siblings want to come along to watch the movie on the oval, they are more than welcome to. We will aim to start the movie just after 7:30pm, as it needs to be dark for the projection to work. A reminder to not bring any extra food for the movie, we will have some popcorn and milo for everyone!

2026 Scotsburn Enrolments

If you know any families that are looking to enrol their child/children for 2026 (or in the foreseeable future), please complete an enrolment form and submit it to the office at Buninyong. If you have any questions, please email Jarrod at jarrod.morgan@education.vic.gov.au

For those considering enrolment at our beautiful campus, the video below is a great snapshot of what we have to offer:

Scotsburn Intercampus Travel

At times, Scotsburn students will be transported between campuses in order to attend classes, assemblies, special days and events. On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day.

We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements.

If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding intercampus travel, please contact your child’s teacher.
