2025 Sports Celebration Dinner

The 2025 Clayfield College Sports Celebration Dinner was an unforgettable night honouring the achievements, courage, and spirit of our athletes. Set against the stunning backdrop of The Hall, The Warehouse, the evening brought together students, families, coaches, coordinators and staff to celebrate a year defined by growth, connection, and fearless pursuit.

Dr Cousins’ theme for the year, 'Be Fearless – Let’s Illuminate the Sky,'set the tone for the evening as stories of courage, growth, and camaraderie were shared. From the pool to the playing fields, the courts to the trails, our student athletes truly embodied what it means to shine together.

Highlights from 2025 included:

  • QGSSSA Swimming: 76 athletes with 49 personal bests in freestyle relays.
  • Cross Country: 43 runners, 24 achieving their 2025 goal times.
  • Athletics: 73 competitors recording 24 new personal bests.
  • Artistic Gymnastics: Hosted by Clayfield College - an outstanding success with premiership pennants in Open, B, C, and D Grades, 2nd in A Grade, and 4th in Year 7.

Across Autumn and Winter Fixtures, participation reached record levels:

  • 103 girls represented Clayfield in basketball, football, and touch football.
  • 134 girls competed in AFL, badminton, netball, hockey, tennis, and volleyball. The Senior A Football and Senior B Basketball teams both finished undefeated, while the Open and Senior Tennis teams placed second overall after a powerful season built on teamwork and composure.

Boys’ sport continued to gain momentum, with 30 basketballers competing across club teams and 11 boys in touch football reaching their first-ever final.

Co-educational programs flourished, with 18 mountain bikers racing in the Rocky Trail Academy Series and six sailors completing the PMSA Learn-to-Sail Program before progressing to RQYS teams and fleet competitions.

The night closed in the same spirit it began with gratitude. To the coaches, coordinators, staff, and parents whose belief and commitment make every opportunity possible; and to our students, who continue to remind us of that sport at Clayfield is more than competition, it’s community, courage, and belonging.

With pride the 2025 Sports Captains, Mia Geere and Reese Taylor handed over their custodian roles and officially welcomed the 2026 Captains, Hayley Colless and Reese Taylor, ready to lead the next chapter of CC Sport.

In closing, 'We were fearless, and we illuminated the sky.'

Hayley also reached the 200m semi-finals, finishing 13th overall, while Zoe Goode-Stibbard impressed with a 9th place finish in the 200m semi-finals and a 5th place in the 100m final after qualifying through the heats.

Meanwhile, Matilda Woodhead capped off her debut State Championships with an outstanding 4th place finish in the 15-years high jump, marking an exciting milestone in her developing athletics journey.

2025 CBSQ Basketball Tournament

The Clayfield College CBSQ Basketball team proudly represented the College at the Basketball Queensland CBSQ Junior Secondary Tournament, one of the state’s most competitive school basketball events.

Facing some of Queensland’s strongest basketball programs, the girls showed exceptional grit and teamwork across the tournament. Several matches came down to the wire, with Clayfield narrowly defeated by just three or four points in several tight contests. Despite finishing 8th overall, the team walked away with valuable experience and a renewed hunger for next season.

Having earned their place in this elite competition through the Wildcard Qualifiers, the players have once again proven Clayfield’s growing presence and competitiveness on the state basketball stage.

Congratulations to all players, coaches, and supporters for their commitment and passion, you did Clayfield proud.
