We hope all of our families had a wonderful break over the holidays and is feeling refreshed for the busy and exciting term ahead. Term 4 will be full of celebrations, learning experiences, and special events as we approach the end of the school year.
CAMP
At the end of Term 3, our Grade 3 and 4 students enjoyed an unforgettable camp experience at Arrabri Lodge. Over three exciting days, they took part in a range of activities including the giant swing, flying fox, obstacle ropes course, archery, mini golf, and many more. In the evenings, students enjoyed a trivia night full of friendly competition, toasted marshmallows around the bonfire, and watching a movie altogether. One of the highlights for students was getting to bunk with their friends, who they could share lots of laughs and experiences with. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to build confidence, try new things, and create lasting memories.
Feedback from students:
Ellie:
Camp was lots of fun. The giant swing was my favourite. I liked that I got to have many turns at mini golf and archery. It was fun to be in a cabin with my friends and other people as this meant I got to get to know them better.
Thomas:
It was a bit tricky to fall asleep with all my cabin mates, but we had fun together. The food at camp was good, and the staff were really kind and helpful. There were so many activities to try. A special highlight for me was celebrating my birthday at camp and receiving a little birthday cupcake.
Mohamad:
Camp was really good. It was really fun to sleep in a cabin with my friends. I enjoyed finding the gold in the Yarra river. I liked the giant swing, archery and flying fox. Doing the obstacle ropes course was also really fun.

Literacy: Reading and Writing
This term, students have begun reading The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. They are enjoying exploring the story’s characters, themes, and the mysterious arrival of the Iron Man himself! We have been really impressed by our students' abilities to comprehend the text, as they've made fantastic predictions, asked insightful questions and explored key vocabulary throughout the book.
In Writing, students have begun planning and writing their own information reports about an animal with wings. They’ve completed extensive research through hardcopy non-fiction texts, online articles and videos. It is wonderful to see them learn how to structure their writing with clear topic sentences, interesting facts, and well-organised paragraphs.

Maths:
In Maths, students have been learning all about volume and mass. They've explored using a formula/rule to calculate the volume of rectangular prisms (V=LxWxH). They have also practiced the skill of hefting, as well as using scales to weigh items around the classroom. The past 2 weeks in Maths have allowed students to show their working out through practicing their calculations and use concrete materials to support their learning.
