Camping Program

I was fortunate to attend the Year 5/6 Camp to Alexandra last week. It was a fabulous and this is thanks to the behaviour and attitude of our students and our very hands on and amazing staff that attended. Thank you also to a parent volunteer, Brionie, for your time and efforts as well.

Camps are an amazing opportunity for students to firstly be away from home and family members, but also to experience activities that will push them out of their comfort zone. The social skills element is enormous and students bond and share with others within cabins, activity and duty groups.

Thanks to our Paramedics who also attended to provide medications and first aid when required to our students. They took this photo of me and sent it around (trying to be funny) because I really liked using the megaphone - this was so I didn’t have to stretch my vocal cords of course!

At PVNPS we continue to offer a full camping program for students to be able to have valuable experiences away from home.

Our Camping Program is as follows:

Prep- Breakfast at School

Year 1 - Dinner at School

Year 2- Sleepover (1 night) at School

Year 3&4- Two Night Camp (Arrabri Lodge - Sovereign Hill)

Year 5&6- Two Night Camp ( Alexandra Adventure Resort - Phillip Island Adventure Resort) 

• The camps are alternating each year, so that students get to attend four different camps.

Many schools have changed their camping program due to a number of factors: willingness of staff to attend and the cost of camps in relation to time in lieu for staff to attend. 

Camps are also getting expensive for families and this year the School Start Bonus greatly assisted many families, as we have had the best number of students attending for many years.

Absences

Thanks to my terrific office team for following up with student absences on a daily basis of those unexplained. If you don’t want a phone to say ' please explain' then please learn how to use COMPASS to record your own child's absence from school.

We will be also following up the many explained absences if your child/ren have had many days away from school and it has not been a medical issue or an extended family holiday.

Please remember that all family holidays outside the school holidays needs signed approval from myself - forms are at the office.
