Spotlight on Learning

Dear Foundation Families, 

We have had a fantastic week of learning, strengthening our knowledge, and practising our skills. A highlight this week has been learning a new sound, /ch/. We have enjoyed practicing this sound in both our reading and writing activities.

📝 We will also be sending home paper copies (for King Swim), which need to be filled in and returned to your child’s teacher as soon as possible. Thank you for your prompt attention to this!

Next week: 

English:  This week, we are learning the /tch/ sound! Students will be practicing saying, reading, and writing words with the /tch/ sound, such as catch, witch, and stitch.

Mathematics: In Maths, we will be learning to represent two-digit numbers using MAB blocks. Students will explore how tens and ones combine to make different numbers and will show their understanding by building numbers with MAB.

Social Emotional Learning: We will be learning how to be friendly and play fairly with all our friends. We’ll explore what it means to use kind words, take turns, and include everyone — boys, girls, and all friends — in our games.

Integrated: Next week in Integrated, we will be learning about different emotions and how to cope with them. Students will explore ways to recognise and understand how they feel in different situations. We will learn to use the right words to describe our emotions and discuss strategies to help us manage our feelings in positive and calm ways. These lessons will support students in building emotional awareness, self-regulation, and empathy towards others.

Auslan:  This week in Auslan, we will be revising all of our Unit 7 signs to strengthen our understanding and confidence in using them.

Religion Education: We will be exploring Mission Month and learning how we can care for others, just like Jesus. We will discuss what it means to live with kindness and compassion and think about simple ways we can make a difference in our school and local community. Students will have the opportunity to share their ideas and take part in activities that show how we can help those in need.
