Physical Education

These first three weeks of Term 4 have been full of energy and fun as students jumped back into sport with great enthusiasm!
We’ve focused on building teamwork, fitness, and fundamental skills through a range of activities.
Foundation, Grade 1 & Grade 2
Our Foundation to Year 2 students have been busy preparing for the upcoming Athletics Carnival! In PE. They’ve been learning and practicing events such as the 50m sprint, hurdles, and some fun novelty races like the sack race and high hoppers. Alongside developing their running, jumping, and coordination skills, students have also been learning about the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork, and encouraging others.
It’s been wonderful to see everyone giving their best effort, cheering for their classmates, and showing great enthusiasm as the carnival approaches!
Grades 3 and 4
Grade 3 and 4 students have made a strong and enthusiastic start to Term 4 sport. The term began with a focus on teamwork, where students participated in a range of games and activities that encouraged communication, cooperation, and problem-solving. These sessions help build a positive team environment and prepare students for working together in more structured sports.
More recently, the focus has shifted to soccer, with students developing their skills in dribbling, passing, and shooting. Students take turns as 'Captains' and we talk about what skills they're looking for in a teammate - be it , good listening skills, strength, etc. - before choosing teams they think best fit this criteria.
It has been a positive and active start to the term, with students showing improvement and enjoyment each week.
Grades 5 and 6
Grade 5 and 6 students have been learning all about the game of cricket this term. They’ve been developing their batting and bowling techniques, learning the basic rules of the game, and building confidence in fielding through throwing and catching activities.
Throughout our lessons, students have also been focusing on fairness and respect, demonstrating great sportsmanship and teamwork during games. It’s been fantastic to see their skills and understanding of cricket grow each week!
It has been fantastic to see students encouraging one another, trying their best, and enjoying being active together. We’re looking forward to more exciting sports and skill-building in the weeks ahead!
