Report Update - Surfside Primary School Values
At Surfside we are working together to build a positive learning environment that promotes and supports children’s academic learning and their social and emotional wellbeing. This is much more than ‘being happy’ and follows a strength and skills-based approach.
RESPECT, HONESTY, TEAMWORK and ACHIEVEMENT are the values that reflect who we are and what we do. These values guide our behaviour have been further unpacked to create a matrix of expectations to explicitly teach these behaviours. A matrix is a clear and concise guide for all members of our school community that communicates our commitment to each other.
This semester, we have added the four values with each of the points in our school matrix to the reports (see below). Teachers have looked at different aspects of the values and if that behaviour has been consistently, usually, sometimes or rarely demonstrated. See examples for each of the values below and a visual example:

- Looks after belongings
- Listens attentively
- Shows care for the environment
HONESTY:

- Tells the truth the first time

- Asks for help when needed
TEAMWORK:

- Follows the rules of the game

ACHIEVEMENT:
- Follows teacher instructions
- Tries different ways to sort or solve a problem
