Principals Message
As Term 2 comes to a close, I would like to acknowledge and thank all members of the Narrandera High School community for their efforts over the first half of the year.
The Term 2 Formal Assembly once again highlighted the dedicated students who apply themselves in class and who strive to do their best each and every day. Over 150 students received an award in areas from academic excellence, consistent effort, community service, SRC representation and excellent attendance. Congratulations to all these students for their commitment to their education and the wider community. Each term, Mrs Langley and I acknowledge members of staff for their outstanding commitment to the students of Narrandera High School. This term, the staff members recognised were:
Jacquie Hammond – Student Support Officer – for her commitment to students and to ensuring that all students feel supported and cared for at Narrandera High School. Mrs Judy Ing - Careers Advisor – for her commitment to all students in all areas of careers and their transition to university, TAFE and employment. Congratulations to these staff members.
Wednesday will see the Hot Chips Reward lunch for the students who have over 90% attendance for Term 2. Congratulations to the more than 100 students who will be provided with lunch on this day. The evidence is clear that consistent attendance is the essential first step for your child to have a positive experience at school. Every day matters for your child’s learning. The more time your child attends school, the greater their opportunity to learn, make new friends and improve their wellbeing. Positive attendance habits at school will stay with a student for their lifetime and lead to better employment outcomes and opportunities.
Term 3 will see another busy term.
Stage 6 students will complete the course work for their HSC subjects, some will be finalising major projects, and all will sit their Trial HSC Examinations in Week 6. These examinations will take place at the clubrooms at the Narrandera Sports Ground. The HSC examinations in Term 4 will also take place at this venue. Students will sit their examinations off site to minimise distractions (for example, school bells) and ensure that students are in optimal conditions to achieve to a level which shows their understanding in each of their subjects.
During Week 1, Narrandera High School will hold our NAIDOC Day celebration and activities. I look forward to members of the local Wiradjuri community coming into school to celebrate the history, culture and achievement of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
I hope all members of the Narrandera High School community have a safe and relaxing holiday. Students return to school on Tuesday July 23, 2024.
