Events and Save the Date

Year 3 - Year 6 Interhouse Athletics Carnival - E S Marks Field, Kensington - Friday 31 May, 2024

The Year 3 - Year 6 Interhouse Athletics Carnival will be held on Friday 31 May, 2024 for students in Year 3 - Year 6 at the ES Marks Athletics Field, cnr Anzac Parade and Boronia Street, Kensington (enter via Boronia Street, not Alison Road please). 

 

ALL STUDENTS are to meet at school by 8.00am for an 8.15am SHARP bus departure. 

CARLINE will operate from 7.45am until 8.10am on this day to ensure all girls are present on Tivoli lawn for roll call prior to boarding the coaches. Parents have the option of taking their own daughter/s only home at the conclusion of the Carnival (see permission form emailed to parents separately).

 

Alternately, girls will return to school by bus by approximately 2.30pm in time for usual carline and Extra Curricular Activities.

** PLEASE NOTE - There will be no Year 3 Netball Training on the afternoon of Friday 31 May after the carnival. 

** ALL EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES WILL STILL GO AHEAD AFTER THE CARNIVAL.

** A coffee cart will be available on the day for coffees/drinks and limited food only FOR PARENTS - we suggest packing all food and drinks you will need for the day.

** NO DOGS ARE PERMITTED AT THE ES MARKS ATHLETICS FIELD - THIS IS A DOG FREE VENUE.

 

The Carnival will start between 9.00 - 9.15am. A program of events will be posted on Sundial on Wednesday afternoon 29 May, 2024. 

 

Details to note:

  • Students are to wear their Sports Uniform, Sports Cap and Sunscreen.
  • Students are to bring morning tea, lunch and a water bottle. Please pack enough food and water for the day. Students are NOT PERMITTED to visit the coffee cart.
  • Any student who requires an EPIPEN, Asthma puffer or medication must bring it with her to the carnival (any medication must be in a zip lock bag, named with dosages and times clearly marked). 
  • All students will participate in a minimum of four events each.
  • Students' attendance will count towards their respective House points.
  • All students are to remain for the duration of the carnival and either return to Kambala by bus, or go home with their respective parents (please specify on the form below). 
  • Girls will not be permitted to return home with another parent and home time arrangements may not be altered on the day of the carnival.
  • Guests are warmly invited to attend the carnival. Please wear your House colours.
  • Parents are asked to sit behind the girls in House areas. Please do not encourage your daughter to sit with you, as she will be cheering her house members.
  • Please note, there is no parking in the ES Marks Carpark. On street parking is available in Boronia Street. 
  • We ask parents and guests to not attend if they are feeling unwell and also to keep students home if they are unwell in any way as per the acknowledgement on the permission form (see below link). 

Please complete the permission form and the post-carnival going home arrangements via the email sent to all parents yesterday.

Pupil Free Day - Friday 7 June, 2024

We advise our Preparation to Year 6 parents that Friday 7 June, 2024 is Staff Development Day and students will not attend school on this day.

 

Our Extra Curricular Department have advised that there will be an offering of Holiday Camps on this date and a link will be sent to parents in the coming days. 

 

Please also note that Monday 10 June is the King's Birthday Public Holiday. 

Year 4 Excursion - Maritime Museum Sydney - Thursday 13 June, 2024

On Thursday 13 June, 2024 an excursion to the Maritime Museum has been organised for students in Year 4 (permission link to be sent in the coming days). 

 

Students will travel by bus to the museum and return back to Kambala in the afternoon in time for carline and/or extra curricular activities. 

 

At the Maritime Museum, the girls will visit the  exhibition, Under Southern Skies: Navigating and Voyaging around Australia and other galleries where they will examine early contact with the Australian continent. They will learn how adventurers navigated the ocean en-route to the Australian continent using traditional and scientific navigation techniques. The tour also investigates why they undertook their journeys and examines who these adventurers were. Students examine navigational techniques of Indigenous people – Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, of the people from Papua New Guinea and other Pacific Islands, as well as Indonesian Macassan traders to the Dutch, Portuguese, Spanish, French and English explorers. 

 

On this excursion, students should apply sunscreen prior to arriving at school. They must wear their sports uniform (track pants, sports and zip jackets - no fleeces!), sneakers, sports cap and a yellow ribbon. They are required to bring their own recess, lunch and water bottle, in their KAMBALA black excursion bag. Please pack a Kambala raincoat in case of inclement weather.   

 

NO CANTEEN LUNCHES FOR YEAR 4 ON THIS DAY.

 

Students will leave school at 8:30am - pleas ensure your daughter is at school by 8.00am for roll call and prompt bus departure. 

Year 6 Production of The Little Mermaid - Thursday 20 June, 2024 - 6.00 - 7.30pm

We invite our Year 6 families to reserve their tickets to this year's exciting production.

This is an adapted version of Hans Christian Andersen's famous and much-loved story The Little Mermaid.
