Scholastic Book Club
This week we sent home our first Book Club Catalogue. Book Club is a great way to add to your home library for your children.
If you wish to purchase anything, please use LOOP. Instructions on how to use LOOP to purchase are below as well as a link to the LOOP website. You can also download the app to your phone or device, just search Scholastic Book Club. No other methods of payment are accepted.
Step by Step guide to LOOP:
- Registration: If you haven't already done so, you'll need to register with LOOP, by creating an account and adding your child. Select Vermont Primary School Kindergarten and your child's Group from the drop down boxes. This ensures that your purchases are credited to the appropriate school for delivery and help earn rewards for their literacy programs.
- Browse the Catalogue: Once registered, log in to your LOOP account and explore the Scholastic Book Club catalogue.
- Add to Cart: You can either browse the physical catalogue or online in LOOP. You can add your chosen books to your shopping cart by clicking the "Add to Cart" button next to each item online or type code in next to the item in the catalogue. You can review your selections at any time and make adjustments as needed before proceeding to checkout.
- Checkout: When you're ready to complete your purchase, navigate to your shopping cart and click "Checkout." All items will be delivered to the kinder so you do not get charged any shipping costs.
- Delivery: Once your order arrives at the kinder the teacher will distribute them.

Starting School in 2025
If your child is starting school next year, it is time to decide where they will go to school.
The first year of primary school is called Foundation or Prep. The Department of Education has released a statewide Foundation enrolment timeline that all Victorian government primary schools follow. The timeline helps you to understand when and how to enrol your child in Foundation at a Victorian government school.
The Foundation enrolment timeline only applies to government primary school enrolment. If you wish for your child to attend a non-government school (Catholic or Independent school), please contact individual non-government schools for their enrolment processes.
Applications to government schools for the 2025 school year open from the start of Term 2, 2024 (Monday 15 April 2024). You should apply to the school by Friday 26 July 2024.
What you need to do:
1. Read about when and how to enrol your child in Foundation at www.vic.gov.au/enrollingfoundation-prep . The pack for parents and carers is available on this webpage and includes an application form.
2. Use findmyschool.vic.gov.au to find your child’s local (zoned) school and other nearby government schools.
3. Contact a school to book a tour and to learn more about the school and the enrolment application process.
4. Submit an enrolment application for Foundation by Friday 26 July 2024.
5. You will be notified of the outcome of your application between Monday 29 July and Friday 9 August 2024. If you receive an enrolment offer, you should accept the offer by Friday 23 August 2024.
6. Take part in information and transition sessions during Term 4, 2024.
7. Your child will start Foundation from Wednesday 29 January 2025.
In Victoria, your child has a right to enrol in their local school. Your local school is determined on the basis of your child’s permanent residential address.
Information and resources are also available on the Victorian Government website at www.vic.gov.au/enrolling-foundation-prep.
This is one important part of the transition to school process. Further information on transition to primary school, including Transition Learning and Development Statements, will be provided to parents and carers later this year.
2025 Information Session
Pet Ownership Incursion
The 4 YO's got to spend time getting to know Clover the Labrador last week. Clover was very friendly and helped the children learn how to be safe around animals while out and about. They learnt what to look out for to identify if a dog or other animal is feeling stressed or anxious and when we should avoid them and what signs tell us an animal is safe to approach, including asking an owner if they can pat their animal.
Mother’s Day
It was so lovely to have all our Mum's in over the last couple of weeks to celebrate how amazing they all are. The children loved preparing scones, chocolates and biscuits for them. We hope you all enjoyed your time here at kinder and on Sunday with your families being spoilt!
