Year 10 and 11 Mid-Year Exams

Year 10 Exams begin Monday 27th May and conclude Thursday 30th May. Year 11 Exams begin Friday 31st May and conclude Wednesday 5th June.

Exam time is an important part of an academic journey of most students. It is not only a measure of academic progress but also an opportunity to develop essential skills. Exams provide a structured way to assess a student’s grasp of the material covered over a period of time and help identify areas of strengths and weaknesses. They also provide valuable feedback that can guide students on where to focus their efforts for future learning and development.

Preparing for and taking exams teaches students skills on how to manage their time effectively, help with critical thinking and problem solving and being able to focus for longer periods of time. All skills that are important for future academic success.

By recognising the importance of exams, students can approach them not just as a challenge, but as an opportunity for growth and development. Embracing the exam period with a positive mindset can lead to lasting benefits that extend far beyond the classroom.

Year 11 Study Day

A Year 11 Study Day is scheduled for Thursday 30th May - the day before the Year 11 Exams commence.

This means that Year 11 VCE students stay at home. This day has been given to our Year 11 students so that they can start preparing for their Unit 1 exams.

This study day allows them to:

  • concentrate solely on revision without the distractions of regular school activities
  • review each subject to identify any weaknesses or gaps that need addressing
  • go through class notes and textbooks to refresh key concepts
  • start writing summary notes for quick revision before the exams
  • practice questions and apply the concepts learned

Before the STUDY DAY, students should:

  • make an exam timetable so they know when their exams are - they are only required at school for their exams.
  • organise their study space by finding a quiet, comfortable place with minimal distractions. Ensure it is well lit and has all the materials needed – notes, textbooks, stationery, laptop, and any other required resources.
  • eliminate distractions – turn off electronic notifications and find a place to leave their mobile phone.
  • plan a study schedule by creating a study plan that breaks down study sessions into manageable chunks.

Following the above study advice will help ensure your academic potential.  Students should speak to their teachers if they want additional support.
