Project Compassion

For those who were not here at pick-up after school on Tuesday and Wednesday this week, see below for the videos of our brave teachers being drenched with icy cold water. Thank you to these brave individuals who kindly provided a massive incentive for the students to work hard at raising funds for Project Compassion.

A snapshot of RE Learning in 1/2HH

May is the Month of Mary.

We have been exploring and learning about Mary's life. Who was Mary? Why was Mary chosen as the Mother of Jesus? What type of person was Mary to have been chosen to be part of something so special?

We learnt that Mary lived in Galilee in a town called Nazareth. Mary was asked by the angle Gabriel to be the Mother of Jesus. Mary was chosen because she was kind, good and caring.

We discussed how Mary may have felt about being chosen and experienced emotions such as fear, excitement and nervousness.

We have been learning to pray 'The Hail Mary' in class.

Finally, we created some beautiful Mary artwork to display in our classroom.

Sunday Gospel

The liturgy of the Catholic Church provides a framework for reflection which is used by Catholics throughout the world. Each week in the Newsletter, you will find the Sunday Gospel as well as some discussion questions to have with your child/ren.

A reading from the holy Gospel according to John

In the evening of the first day of the week, the doors were closed in the room where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews. Jesus came and stood among them. He said to them, ‘Peace be with you,’ and showed them his hands and his side. The disciples were filled with joy when they saw the Lord, and he said to them again, ‘Peace be with you.

‘As the Father sent me,

so am I sending you.’

After saying this he breathed on them and said:

‘Receive the Holy Spirit.

For those whose sins you forgive,

they are forgiven;

for those whose sins you retain,

they are retained.’

Discussion Questions

1.On Sunday we celebrate the coming of the Spirit. Who do you know who is a Spirit-filled person?

2. What sort of things show that a person is Spirit-filled?

Let us ask the Holy Spirit to come into our hearts so that we may be Spirit filled.
