Dear Students, Parents, Carers and Families
We have reviewed a large number of policies and several of them have been ratified by School Council. Over the coming months, these will be available on our website for you to read and provide any feedback. They are also linked to a tab in this newsletter. The policies are in line with the Department of Education guidelines and are adjusted to suit our school context.
Education Week 2024
We had a fantastic turnout to our open morning as part of Education Week. All students participated in activities around this year's theme, highlighting the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in our everyday lives. We take great pride in developing our students' creative and critical skills as thinkers, problem solvers, engineers and innovators.
Education Support Staff Day
On Thursday 16th May we celebrated the hard work and achievements of our fabulous Education Support (ES) team. Our ES team are made up of administration, integration, maintenance and in class support staff. Their wide ranging abilities help to ensure that our school can function so productively and positively. We are extremely grateful for the job they all do and how much they support and contribute to the success of Maramba PS. Thank you for helping to make our school so special!
District Cross Country
Congratulations to the 55 students who qualified and the 28 students from Years 3-6 who competed in the District Cross Country carnival on Tuesday. I am so proud of the manner in which our students represented themselves and our school at the event! Regardless of the results, it is a significant achievement to compete at that level so well done to everyone! Big thanks to Mr Galloway, Ms Rhodes and Mrs Maine for supervising, assisting and encouraging our athletes on the day.
Reconciliation Week 2024
Please note that next week is National Reconciliation Week across Australia. The theme for this year is: Now More Than Ever, emphasising the need for action and change. It is a time for us to focus on understanding our shared history, connection, respect and achievements. Throughout the week, students will take part in activities such as unpacking what reconciliation means, sharing Dreamtime Stories, learning about significant indigenous people and the National Sorry Day.
Myuna Farm Excursion
Our Year 4 students enjoyed a sustainability focused excursion to Myuna Farm last week. They participated in a range of activities from fishing, composting, recycling to learning about ways in which we can reduce our carbon footprint. Check out some of the photo highlights.
Attitudes to School Survey
Our students in Years 4 to 6 are currently completing the Attitudes to School Survey (AToSS), which is a voluntary student survey offered by the Department of Education to assist schools and the Department to gain an understanding of students' perceptions and experiences of school. At Maramba, we value student voice as a means to improving student engagement, wellbeing and quality instruction so in addition to AToSS, our two student leaders, Caitlyn and Louraine, asked a random group of students, "What is one thing you think the school does really well?" Here are some of the responses:
Our students are our biggest advocates and I am super proud of them!

Student Sickness
Children who are feeling unwell are not able to learn and participate in the class programs effectively. To help protect our school and the wider community, we ask that unwell students stay home, given the impacts of flu and colds on our school community. It is vital that they are only away on the days they are genuinely sick. Setting good sleep patterns, eating well and exercising regularly can make a big difference to rest and recovery. If your child complains of an illness, administration staff will contact parents or emergency contacts to collect t from school.
Foundation 2025
Do you know someone who is looking for their child to start school in 2025? Don't forget to remind them that applications are open now and close on 26th July. Any new families interested in a school tour are also encourged to book one through contacting the school office.
I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!
Kind regards,
Moniba Ehsan
