Music

Tuesday 11th June saw the McCarthy Catholic College Choir compete in the Tamworth Eisteddfod. Led by Mr McNeill and accompanied by Mr Godden, the choir gave rousing renditions of Siyahamba, a traditional zulu folk song and A Million Dreams from the blockbuster movie, The Greatest Showman. The choir’s excellent performance drew high praise from the adjudicator, Mr Robert McDougall, with a score of 93. This saw them place second, just behind a strong choir from Calrossy. Well done to the McCarthy Catholic College Choir.

The past few weeks have also seen excellent performances from some of our students in the dance section of the eisteddfod. Chloe Langley, Ruby Swan, Chloe Collins, Kaitlyn Hope, Abbigale Gwatkin, Luca Ball and Ava Barnes have all represented themselves exceptionally well and have gathered some impressive results and prizes. A fantastic effort from those performers.

The Tamworth Eisteddfod will continue through the month of June, with the College Concert Band, Woodwind Ensemble, Brass Ensemble and elective/senior classes participating on the 20th June. In addition, several students will participate in solo and ensemble singing and drama events. Good luck to these performances and we encourage anyone wishing to support the eisteddfod to view their website for more information: https://www.tamwortheisteddfod.org.au/
