Coal Miners Cup 

On Friday 24 May, St Xavier’s sent 8 teams to participate in the annual Coal Miners Cup here in Gunnedah. Everyone had a great time, with excellent sportsmanship on display. All of our teams performed well and one of our open teams came away with the shield at the end of the day which was an outstanding achievement. Thank you very much to everyone who helped coach a team on the day and to the organisers of the event. 

Gary McSweeney Cup

On Friday 31 May, a number of St Xavier’s Year 5 and Year 6 students travelled to Tamworth for the Gary McSweeney Cup.  St Xavier's started strong winning their first game against St Edwards. The next match against the Barbarians saw us defeated by just 1 point. In the last game of the day we went down after a hard fought battle to Inverell.

St Xaviers still made it through to the Grand Final to play against Inverell again, and unfortunately they were again too strong seeing us come away with the runner up medals. Thank you to Mrs Stevenson for all her organisation and thank you to Mr and Mrs Swain for giving up their time to coach and support us.

The day also served as the trials for the Diocesan Rugby Union Team and four boys were selected for the team. Congratulations to Tom Smallwood, Joe Swain, Josh Jeffery and Charlie Mainey who made the Polding team to compete in Forbes at the end of June. 

Polding Cross Country 

On Wednesday 5 June, Josh Spinks, Thomas Beer, Savannah Campbell and Anna Beer attended the Polding Cross Country in Sydney. Congratulations to Josh Spinks for his 3rd place in the 12/13yrs boys, he will now go on to NSW PSSA State Cross Country next term. 

School Athletics Carnival 

Our whole school Athletics Carnival is being held on Friday 28 June. Children are encouraged to wear house colours or sports uniform on the day. 

Location: Donnelly Fields

Please note that the school will be closed as all staff will be at the carnival.

The school buses have been instructed to drop off and pick up the children from the Carnival at Donnelly Fields. More information will follow closer to the day.
