What have we been up to in the last two weeks?

Nearly half way through term 2 and we continue to look at social and emotional skills with this week having a big focus on Kindness and Empathy. Empathy has been a hard concept but as the week progressed it was so good to see the children becoming more aware of others. In particular on Wednesday morning we had an invention session where we thought about people in our lives who may need help. The children invented the most amazing and creative gadgets and robots to help them.

We had some great conversations about feelings and how our actions make people feel. We used the play dough to make different facial expressions which the kids loved. We enjoyed making some feelings faces on Wednesday in cooking too when we decorated our cookies with different toppings to make some funny,happy,sad and strange faced cookies.

In week four we revisited our families theme from term one which followed on nicely from our friendship week but also linked in with National families week 2024.

We particularly looked at diversity and the different types of families that we know. We loved some of the Artwork produced especially when the children made pictures of their favourite activity that they do with their family that makes them really happy !
