Reconciliation Week (NRW) 2025 is here, and at St Monica's Primary, we are excited to join the celebration from May 27 to June 3. This year’s theme, "Bridging Now to Next", reflects the ongoing connection between past, present and future.
NRW starts on May 27, the anniversary of the 1967 referendum, where Australians voted to change the constitution to recognise Aboriginal people. It ends on June 3, the day the High Court made the important Mabo decision in 1992, recognising that Indigenous Australians have rights to the land.
Here at St Monica's, we've had a week full of fun and educational activities that concluded with a liturgy today.
Student Arrival and Departure Procedures
Late Drop-Off: If your child arrives late to school, please accompany them to the administration office to sign them in. A staff member will escort your child to their classroom. We kindly ask that parents leave from the office to help minimise disruptions to learning time.
Early Pick-Up: If you need to collect your child early, please come to the administration office and sign them out. A staff member will retrieve your child from their classroom. Parents are asked to remain at the office to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted learning environment.
Thank you for your cooperation and support.
We Value Our Volunteers!
Our school community thrives thanks to the generosity and support of our wonderful volunteers. Whether it's helping at events, supporting classroom activities, or assisting with excursions, your time and effort make a big difference.
New Volunteer Registration Process
To streamline communication and planning, we’ve introduced a new online procedure for registering interest in assisting at school events. If you’d like to volunteer, please complete the Volunteer Induction Module.
All volunteers must also ensure they have a current Working With Children Check on file with the school.
Thank you for your ongoing support – we couldn’t do it without you!
As We Approach Winter…
With the colder months upon us, we often see an increase in common illnesses. To help keep our school community healthy, we kindly remind families to follow recommended exclusion periods for contagious conditions. If your child is unwell, especially with symptoms such as fever, vomiting, or diarrhoea, please keep them at home until they have fully recovered.
Influenza A Notice
We’ve had a few cases of Influenza A reported at St Monica’s. We kindly ask families to remain vigilant with personal hygiene, including regular handwashing and covering coughs and sneezes.
"In Victoria, students with influenza or influenza-like illness are excluded from school until they are "well". This means they should be symptom-free and able to return to normal activities."
Thank you for your continued support.
The School Advisory Council (SAC) have met twice already this year. The SAC plays an important role in offering advice and support to the Principal, particularly in guiding the strategic direction and ongoing improvement of the school.
This year's SAC members are: Hayley Smith (Chair), Matt Knight, Anthony Chalkley, Fr. Jackson Saunders, Megan Beagley, Briana Andrews, Merridee Griffin & Rachael Mays (CESL).
2026 Enrolment Offers
Enrolment offers for 2026 will be sent out from June 6. If you are looking to enrol your child, or know someone who is interested, please ensure an application is submitted as soon as possible via the school website.
Attention Grade 6 Parents
Once you have confirmed your child’s secondary school placement, please complete the survey on Simon Everywhere. This information helps us with transition planning and communication.
Uniform Update – Clarification
As we move into the colder months, we’d like to provide an update and clarify our current uniform guidelines:
Current Uniforms: All current uniform items already owned by students remain acceptable to wear. These updates apply only to new purchases as part of a gradual transition.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we make these updates.
