City Experience: Exploring Melbourne’s Culture, Landmarks and Sport
Our Year 9 students recently participated in an exciting City Experience program, offering them the opportunity to engage with Melbourne’s vibrant cultural, historical and sporting landscape.
Students took part in two unique experiences across the day. One group embarked on a city-wide Amazing Race, navigating some of Melbourne’s most iconic landmarks including the Arts Centre Melbourne, Southbank Pedestrian Bridge, Eureka Tower, Federation Square and Hosier Lane. Working in small teams, students completed challenges at each location using a tailored activity booklet, developing their teamwork, independence and problem-solving skills in a dynamic urban setting.
Another group explored Melbourne’s premier sporting precinct through a guided tour of the MCG and the Sports Museum. Students were given a behind-the-scenes look into Australia’s sporting history and the operations of world-class sporting events. Their experience continued through Melbourne Central, Chinatown and the museum district—providing cultural depth to the day’s learning.
Throughout the experience, students consistently represented our school community with pride. They demonstrated the values of respect, responsibility and community, engaging positively with the public and showing maturity, curiosity and care in every environment they encountered. Their behaviour was exemplary, and we are incredibly proud of the way they upheld our school’s expectations in the community.
This experience highlighted not only the importance of learning beyond the classroom but also the strength of our students' character. We look forward to providing more opportunities like this that allow students to grow as both learners and active members of the broader community.
