Prep News

It’s hard to believe we’re nearing the end of Term 2!
Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to this week in Prep:
Literacy
This week we learnt our final Milo Monkey character and sound – Wilbur the Whale /w/. The students were very excited to meet Wilbur and are now familiar with the entire Milo Monkey family!
To celebrate this amazing milestone, we’ll be having Milo Monkey’s Birthday Surprise Party next Wednesday (June 11) from 9–11am. Students have chosen their Milo character and glued it into their homework books – we strongly encourage everyone to come dressed up and join in the fun!
We kindly ask each family to bring a plate of food to share (with a note listing the ingredients, please no products containing nuts).
In Reading, we’ve continued enjoying The Leaf Thief, which has sparked wonderful conversations and creativity. We’ve also explored other stories to inspire imaginative thinking in our writing.
Maths
We’ve been revisiting patterns and looking at how they appear in the world around us. This week, we also began exploring money, learning to recognise different coins and notes, and practising how to use coins to “buy” items during classroom activities.
Inquiry - Our Community
Our learning about community has continued to grow, and we’ve been so lucky to welcome more special visitors. A big thank you to Zoe’s mum, Jasmine, and Ryan’s Grandpa, Terry, for sharing their time and experiences with us – the students loved learning from you!
Reminders
Satchels are due on Wednesdays.
Milo Monkey’s Birthday Party: Wednesday 11th June, 9–11am. Don’t forget your costume and a nut-free plate of food to share (with listed ingredients).
Thank you as always for your continued support. We’re looking forward to a fun-filled celebration next week!
Warm regards,
The Prep Team
