It’s hard to believe we are at the halfway mark of Term 2. The year is going by so quickly, while it still only seems like yesterday, we were welcoming students back to school for the 2025 school year.
Curriculum Day
On Friday last week, teachers and ES staff engaged in our Term 2 Curriculum Day.
Teachers spent the morning unpacking the new Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0. It was great to see the level of engagement and expertise in the room, discussing how students learn and the supportive teaching strategies we can use to assist all learners.
Our ES Teaching Assistants participated in a range of professional learning sessions focusing on building their capacity in numeracy, and trauma informed practices and emotional regulation strategies.
Teachers also spent time working in Professional Learning Teams to begin moderating on assessment data for the Semester 1 reports. Over the next couple of weeks, all teachers will continue to moderate student data to make consistent and comparable judgements of student learning against the Victorian Curriculum.
We look forward to sharing your child’s learning journey with you in their Semester 1 report at the end of Term 2 and in our Term 3 Parent Teacher Interviews as part of our new two-part reporting structure.
National Reconciliation Week
This week is National Reconciliation Week. At NMPS, students are engaging in a range of activities to acknowledge both National Reconciliation Week and National Sorry Day which took place on Monday 26th May.
At NMPS, we will continue to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
2024 Annual Report to the School Community (Information also provided in the School Council Report)
The Annual Report to the School Community provides principals and school councils with an opportunity to share the year’s achievements and progress with the school community. This includes reflecting on the school’s performance and explaining the positive impact of school improvement efforts on student outcomes. Please find out more information about the Annual Report to the School Community, including how to register your interest, on the School Council Report page of this newsletter.
