Whooshing up our storytelling

At Molesworth Street, Performing Arts is firing on all cylinders as we begin to consolidate our skills in music, drama, and dance.

Our Preps are having a ball taking part in choreography, with a focus on using their bodies safely when moving in a performance space. In music they are exploring instruments, practising the importance of rhythm when playing songs. We certainly have some budding musicians on our hands, which is exciting to see!

Our Grade 1s and 2s are learning choreography too, with a focus on remembering sequences of movement. Their ability to work together and support each other in an ensemble has been a joy to watch. Alongside this, they’ve added to their growing repertoire of songs and enjoyed a drama activity called Whoosh—an interactive storytelling game that draws upon comprehension and improvisation skills.

Heads up! The Grade 2s will be performing at assembly this Friday, and from the sound of those xylophones and their pitch perfect singing, they’re going to bring the roof down!

Finally, we love how all our staff have been contributing to our performing arts community, and we wanted to share this image in particular: Carly, one of our Casual Relief Teachers, brought her harp into class and shared it with the students. It was such a rich experience, and the kids were overjoyed to see and hear it.

For now, we’ll be starting to prepare for the Arts Festival in Term 4, with more information to be shared in the coming days. Hope you have an amazing fortnight.
