Year 4 News

From the 4A cohort

Are you wondering what the Year 4’s have been up to?

Read below and 4A will share all about our adventures!

Library

By Henry 4A

In library we played a fun game called white elephant. In this game we all took turns opening a bag which had a book in it, we either had the choice to keep the book that was in the bag or we could steal a book someone already got.

We took turns until the last person got their book but then Alice announced a special twist where we went back around the circle. That meant that the people who were originally at that front were at the back and could steal any book. It was so much fun!

Maths

By Owen & John-Perri 4A

I stepped outside and the warm air greeted me as I thought “ ah, just another day at school.” But then it hit me that we were taking photos of symmetrical shapes! This week in maths we have been learning about symmetry and symmetrical shapes. Here are some examples: a hexagon, octagon and pentagon. Thanks for reading!!!

From Bruno, Dom, Mujin 4A

As we were wandering in the playground venturing for shapes a glint caught my eye. It was the soccer goals and the turtle painting. They both shined and had symmetry! We found so many other objects that also had symmetry. Look around and you will see them too!

Simultaneous Story Time!

From Maya 4A

On the day of simultaneous story time people worldwide were watching a video on a popular book called truck cat. On Wednesday 21 at north Melbourne primary school we were watching an amazing book, truck cat. It was not only incredibly illustrated and well written it was also inspiring and true . The book was based off Deborah Frankel’s (the author) cat. It was a very special experience for all of the many people viewing that video and just the few people watching it in our classroom. Altogether the book was incredible and personally I can’t wait until the next simultaneous story time.

Wellbeing

From Dhawal 4A

Scratch, Scratch, Scratch. Pencils scratched the thick coloured papers. The childrens papers filled with ideas as their imagination spread across the room. Everyone looked pleased at their wonderful work. They presented the imagination, experience, culture, religion and diversity on just one paper! We are all very proud of ourselves!

From Darcy 4A

Hi everyone! In wellbeing, 4A has been focusing on making their own flags. But there’s a twist! They’re not just drawing a boring old two coloured flag , they’re drawing a flag that has symbols of their culture and celebrations. For example, if you’re Irish, you could draw a clover or if you’re Aussie you might draw Vegemite or a footy. We hope you enjoyed this report, thank you!
