Year Two

It has been another exciting fortnight of learning for Year Two, with the second group completing their swimming program, and the students conducting research and working towards their Unit of Inquiry 2 projects. It has been inspiring supporting the students with these and other challenges!

Inquiry

In Inquiry, the students have been collaborating in pairs or groups to research and develop their projects based around the central idea that "Our actions impact the way our bodies work." They have developed and adapted their key questions as they develop new understandings of how human body systems are interconnected and the impact that has on us as human beings. They are looking forward to presenting their findings as this unit approaches its close.

Writing

In Writing, the students have been exploring how to retell the key events from stories they have read in their own words, using the pictures to guide them. These activities have been based on the texts of Stephen Michael King, as part of a broader study into the work, style and approaches to writing of the author.

Reading

In Reading, the students have explored how the skill of questioning before, during and after reading a text helps them understand the books they are reading effectively. They have explored how questioning can guide us as readers to make inferences about the characters' feelings, actions, and personalities, using clues in the pictures and words to guide their thinking.

Mathematics

In Mathematics, the students have been developing a range of strategies to interpret, solve, and check their responses to addition problems. They have explored how to use number lines to solve addition problems efficiently, drawing on their experiences with concrete materials, skip counting, doubles, and part-part whole strategies.

Swimming Program

The students of 2C, 2D, 2G, 2H and 2J have completed the swimming program during the past fortnight. Through their participation in this program, the students have demonstrated resilience, a commitment to self organisation, as well as personal and group safety. Congratulations to all students who have successfully participated in this program.
