Student Celebrations

State Swimming
Hi, I’m Jade Feely, one of the swimming captains here at Wembley and I recently attended the State Swimming Competition. It was an exciting and fun experience, and I met so many new people and made new friends.
I was competing in 50 metre butterfly and 50 metre freestyle, and I got two silver medals in the events. My sister Alison’s school was there as well (Maribyrnong Sports Academy), so I spent the day with her and one of her friends. After our races were finished, we got interviewed by some students from Port Melbourne Secondary College. The questions were mainly about our journey leading up to the event and our plans for future careers in swimming. It was really fun and I had a really great time with my friends.
I would like to thank all of the people who supported me leading up to this event, including Laura Keays, one of the P.E. teachers and some of the other students on the swimming team. I wouldn’t have gotten to this level without them, and they played a really big role in my success at the competition. Overall, it was a really fun experience and I got to learn a lot about how big swimming competitions work and it was really enjoyable.
