Grade 2 Community News

Dear Grade 2 Families,

Warm greetings! As we go into Weeks 5 and 6, we are halfway through Term 2 and are continuing to have an amazing time learning in Grade 2. The students are continuously working super hard with our new maths and literacy concepts and are reaching for the stars to achieve their learning goals.

English

In InitiaLit, we have been learning suffixes and prefixes that is added to base words, such as ‘ing’, ‘ful’ and ‘un’, along with new tricky words such as already and across. Each week we have been focusing on new vocabulary words and identifying if they are nouns, verbs or adjectives. During comprehension lessons, we were learning how to make text-to-world connections while we read to enhance our understanding.

Maths

In maths, we have been learning how to read and write 4-digit numbers, as well as continuing our learning about concepts such as 2D shapes and capacity.
