Foundation - Year 1
Maths
For the past few weeks the Foundation/1 class had been focusing on Measurement during our Maths lessons. We have looked at length, mass and capacity. Students have had a chance to measure objects using both formal (cm, kg, ml) and informal units (Unifix blocks, counters, hefting). The students really enjoyed using the balance scales and trying to find objects that are equal in weight and they had fun finding the capacity of different containers. Augie and Spencer worked together to find the capacity of a 4L container. They discovered that 100 Unifix blocks is equal to 1L, they went on to find out that they would need 400 Unifix blocks for 4L.
Wow Wednesday!
Every Wednesday morning the Foundation/1 class and the 2/3/4 class come together to have some fun. They have an opportunity to interact with students in different year levels, play games, build with the blocks and magnets and colour in, just to mention a few activities. Students have shown great enthusiasm towards the day and look forward to Wow Wednesday each week.
