Principal's Message
School Excellence Plan
Recently we have updated our School Excellence Plan (SEP). Our three main priorities for the next 4 years are:
1. Student Growth and Attainment: To maximise student achievement and progress in reading and numeracy through our Professional Learning Community (PLC) focused on explicit teaching practices.
2. School Community Wellbeing: Student wellbeing will continue to be a focus through our suite of Social and Emotional Learning programs.
3. High Performance and Gifted Education (HPGE): To enhance our High Performance and Gifted Education (HPGE) opportunities for all students in order to broaden opportunities for student success.
Within the previous bulletin I provided some information about what Explicit Teaching is. Within this bulletin I will share some of our work on High Performance and Gifted Education.
Our staff have been participating in professional learning about High Potential and Gifted Education this year. Recently we have learnt about the 4 domains of potential (intellectual, creative, physical and social-emotional). Next week our staff will be identifying students in the four domains within our staff meeting, and next term we will be considering what is possible in the classroom, at a whole school level and at home.
One of our actions in the next 6 months will be to reach out to our wonderful community to see what you can bring to the table in supporting our work in this area. You may not realise it, but your skills and experience may be an opportunity for potential growth for our school. We know that there is a wealth of knowledge, skill and experience in our community and it is essential that we tap into our collective Boambee Public School Community resources going forward.
This new focus for our school opens up many opportunities for students, and we look forward to working with our community on this focus over the next 4 years.
Public Education - the best education money can't buy!
The Wonderful Staff of Boambee Public School
I am currently working with the P & C on community recognition of the amazing work our staff do. We will be including a “getting to know you” section in my bulletin so that our community can get to know our staff a little better. Thanks to 4S for helping me build the questions, and thanks to Beth Ross for being the first to provide me with some responses, I plan to include this in each issue of the newsletter and will work my way through all of the classes this year. Each class will have the chance to adjust/change one of the questions - light hearted and fun is the aim.
Introducing Beth Ross SLSO (School Learning and Support Officer)
Beth joined the Boambee team last year and now works in 4S with Mr Shipman 4 days per week. Beth has also a child starting at Boambee Public School in 2026 and has proven to be a highly competent and capable colleague.
