Reconciliation Week

As we move through the final days of May and into early June, our school, like many across Australia, is observing National Reconciliation Week (NRW). This year's theme, "Bridging Now to Next," reflects the ongoing connection between our past, present, and future, calling on all Australians to step forward together, looking ahead and continuing to push forward, guided by the invaluable lessons of history.

At its heart, reconciliation is about fostering deeper understanding, mutual respect, and appreciation for each other's rich histories, diverse cultures, and significant contributions to our nation. It is a journey of learning from the past, acknowledging its complexities, and actively working together to build a more just, equitable, and harmonious future for everyone.

Next week, our students will be engaged in various activities designed to encourage them to:

• Learn about the vibrant cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
• Listen to their stories and experiences, both past and present.
• Respect their history and their connection to the land.
• Work together towards a truly fair and equal future for all Australians.

We encourage you to discuss the meaning of Reconciliation Week with your children at home. Together, we can contribute to a reconciled Australia.

Recent Student Achievements

The past week has included notable sporting achievements for our school.

Last week, 14 students represented our school at the Division Cross Country Championship. The competition was strong, and our students performed well, demonstrating good sportsmanship and doing their very best. We acknowledge the efforts of the following students who will be competing in the upcoming Regionals: Harry VK (who achieved a podium finish), Ryan J, and Angie M. We wish them success in the next stage of competition.

Earlier this week, our Grade 5 and Grade 6 students participated in a lightning premiership against other schools in our district. We had multiple teams representing us across soccer, football, and netball. Our boys' and girls' soccer teams, as well as our netballers, have successfully progressed to Divisionals. Importantly, our students had a positive experience representing our school.
