We are very excited for our Parent's Games Night on 23 August with lots of planning underway. It will be a night to socialise and relax with other school parents as well as a time to build and strengthen community connections.
We are putting out a call for sponsorship so if you are able to support this event with any donations in the form of services, products or vouchers, that would be appreciated. If you have a business that can sponsor any of the Games on the Night please let me know. If you have a connection with a local business please ask them if they are able to donate any goods or services.
I am looking forward to seeing what Games each Year level is coordinating, so please check in with your child's Year level group to see how you can assist.
Last Thursday night we hosted an online webinar for our families to share the resources available to parents for The Resilience Project. Special thanks to Tracey Farrar, my Wellbeing Leader, for coordinating this event and inspiring all of the parents with the great work happening across the school. It was very well attended and the feedback has been fantastic. Parents were excited to hear about the journals, the check-ins and the mood trackers.
Thanks to the Year 3/4 Team and Michael van Rooy for a very successful Gala Day on Friday. The students were buzzing with excitement when they returned and we were delighted that so many parents could assist on the day with coaching and cheering the students on.
The Year 1/2 Excursion to the MCG was another great experience for our students last week as was the Prep Excursion to the Whitehorse Library. These opportunities for our students are very rewarding and add to the fantastic learning happening at St John's.
Please remember to keep your child at home this Wednesday if you are able to, due to the Scheduled Power Outage for our school. It will be very cold and we will have no internet or lights.
You will receive a timetable for the day from the class teacher and students will take home tasks to complete. Every class teacher will send links for their Google Meets at 8.50am and for another one later in the morning.
If you are unable to supervise your child at home please email me to let me know.

Q: Why do birds fly south for the winter? Because it’s too far to walk.
I hope that you are able to stay warm this week.
If you are able to donate anything for our collection of non-persiahbale goods for the Vinnies Winter Appeal then please leave them in the baskets in each classroom.
