UPCOMING LEARNING:
LITTLE LEARNERS
As mentioned above we have been busy assessing the students and we are all so amazed at the wonderful growth they are all showing. Our new sound is 'air' as in 'airy fairy fair'. Children enjoy making up actions that match our new sounds, you could ask them to show and share these with you. Don't forget you can access the Little Learners decodable books at home.
WRITING:
We are learning the difference between phrases and sentences. We are looking at structured sentences. We are unpacking 'When, Who, What, Where and Why' in sentences, looking at how we can create interesting sentences when we include all these details in our writing. Students have also been learning that adjectives can add more interest and detail to their writing.
NUMERACY:
Over the next fortnight, students will be learning about time, duration and sequencing. This is taught through real world situations such as how our day to day lives are sequenced or how seasons are sequenced over the year. Students have been comparing different events and how different things take a shorter or longer time eg, comparing the time it takes to brush our teeth to driving to school.
INQUIRY:
In Inquiry, Grade 1 students are looking at direction and location. We are learning through looking at different maps. We have been using directions such as near/far and below/above.
Wellbeing:
Each day our morning circle focuses on our Skye values and how we can make our classroom a positive space. Through our wellbeing lessons students have been looking at the difference between a little problem and a big problem. We are looking at changing our mindset to growth mindset through using the power of YET. A good example of this is seen in one of the Bluey episodes -Bicycle, watching the characters get frutrated when they find something difficult to do but also seeing them not giving u and keep trying
Dojo Awards:
Congratulations to the following students for earning 75 dojo points and earning their bronze award! Please note, bronze awards are now presented in the classroom and not at assembly.
