Mental Health Forum

Mental Health Forum
Tuesday 17th June 4.30 – 5.15
BNPS School Library.
Child supervision is available, if required
Why This Forum Matters
We know that families are central to the wellbeing and success of children. This forum is an opportunity for you to have a voice and share your insights about the real mental health and wellbeing challenges facing children and families in our school community.
We’re exploring the following key areas:
- Connection and belonging
- Pressures and expectations
- Communication and emotions
- Partnership and trust
At the forum, we will share a few key ideas and then ask participants to engage in small group discussions facilitated by a staff member around the areas above with some key prompts to promote conversation.
Your input will help us understand what’s happening for children in and out of school.
This year The Department of Education has funded Ballarat North Primary School to join the Mental Health in Primary Schools initiative. While promoting positive mental health has always been important to us, this new initiative provides clearer direction and greater support for schools to take a whole-school approach. We’re in the early stages of developing new plans that focus on:
* promoting mental health and wellbeing for all students,
* building staff confidence and capacity,
* strengthening partnerships with families and the wider community,
* advocating for and valuing student voice,
* AND more.
To ensure our plans accurately reflect the real experiences and needs of BNPS families, we would like to hear from you. Your voice helps us identify shared themes and patterns, enabling us to be proactive in our work and make a meaningful difference.
We understand that attending a school event at this time of day can be tricky for families, especially when it comes to arranging childcare. To help make it easier for you to participate, several of our staff have kindly volunteered to be on-site to supervise any children who need to be present while their parents or carers attend the forum.
