Year 3/4

Literacy
Students have completed their persuasive unit, learning a variety of persuasive techniques and creating arguments and reasons. Students demonstrated their knowledge of persuasive techniques by writing persuasive letters and filming their Shark Tank videos. Students put a lot of time and effort into their scripts, video and the product they created. These have been uploaded to SeeSaw for families to view.
Students are fully immersed in our Author Study, Charlotte's Web. Students have been learning and practising different comprehension strategies such as visualising, summarising, questioning and predicting.
Maths
Students have finished our unit on addition and subtraction and have now moved onto multiplication and division. During our lessons, students are learning a variety of strategies to complete multiplication problems. A big focus for this unit is for our students to learn and practise their times table. A great and easy thing for students to practise at home.
Humanities
Last week we celebrated Education Week. The theme this year was 'Celebrations of Cultures' which had our students learning about Chinese New Year, the Japanese Blossom Festival and Diwali. Students were thrilled when we opened our classrooms to families where they were able to share their learning and create a variety of crafts influenced by the cultures we had been learning about. For the next few weeks, students will continue learning about the differences between rules and laws and how different rules and laws are created and by whom. At the end of the unit, we will be conducting a voting system using ballot papers and ballot boxes.
Things to remember
Can students please bring their iPads to school fully charged. It makes it very difficult to run our program when students cannot access the work when their iPad isn’t charged.
