The Arts

As we reach the half way point of the term, students have been working had on their creative endeveours. Keep an eye out for student's musical assessment tasks, that will appear on Compass in the coming weeks, to help get a better idea of what students have achieved in their learning.
Prep
In Music, the Prep students have been exploring instruments in the symphony orchestra, and the musical families they belong to. They have also experienced the musical story 'Peter and the Wolf' and have role-played different characters from the story. In Visual Arts, the students have continued to create different styles of self-portraits using a range of mediums, including a clay, paint, dye and tissue paper.

In Music, the 1/2 students have been exploring instruments in the symphony orchestra, and the musical families they belong to. They have also experienced the musical story 'Peter and the Wolf' and have role-played different characters from the story. In Visual Art, the students have continued to explore and create art from different countries and cultures, such as African mask sculptures, as well as painting Japanese cherry blossom trees.

In Music, the 3/4 students have continued to explore the playing of ukuleles and other instruments. They have learnt to play different chords and strumming patterns, as well as compose they're only lyrics to a song and then play it to the class. In Drama, the students have been given roles for a short play to be performed at the end of term, and have begun rehearsing.

In Music, the 5/6 students have continued to explore the playing of ukuleles and other instruments. They have learnt to play different chords and strumming pattern, as well as compose they're only lyrics to a song and then play it to the class. In Drama, students have learnt two songs and dances for their production, that will be performed at the end of term at Grovedale College. They will continue to rehearse, collect props and organise costumes, ready for their performance.
