Year 6 Assembly

On Monday the 9th of February we had the first school assembly for this year. It was led by all of the Grade 6 classes, and it was the best assembly ever. Our topic was about belonging in our school, just like our school motto this year. Belonging is being comfortable at school and feeling like you can freely be yourself. After the talking there was an act. The act was about a student being bullied at his new school, making him feel excluded and like he shouldn’t be at the school, but then two people came up to him and invited him to play with them, undoubtedly making him feel like he belonged. We then made a pledge that we would always include people and be nice. At the end of the assembly we all came together and sang a song about belonging. We had the principal’s awards, for people that have clearly shown good behaviour and strongly deserved it. Everybody clapped enthusiastically for the assembly and the people that won the awards. It was really good to see that everybody pledged to make our school a better place and it was a good experience for the Grade 6 students.

In 2026 the whole school theme is Belonging. The Slogan Is ‘Belonging, You Matter Here,’The Year Six assembly was the first whole school assembly of the year and it was on the 16th of February 2026. Since the year six assembly was the first assembly, the teachers thought that it was a great idea that the grade six students put on an assembly about belonging. The grade six explained to the new students and the whole school that they all belong here. The sixth graders put on a skit about a new child that did not feel that he belonged at the school because other kids teased him for being new. Then other kids came and helped make him feel better ensuring that he believed he belonged there. This explained to the school that if some people might be rude to them making you believe that you do not belong there there will always be people there that support you and ensure you belong at our school. After the skit the whole school made a belonging pledge. Then we wrapped up the Year six assembly with an inspirational song called ‘Don’t Forget Where You Belong,’ by One Direction.
