Hello, from Carolyn.

Respect, responsibility and kindness

Hello everyone,

School Council elections.

What does a school council do?  School council supports our school to set and achieve our broad our teaching and learning programs, act as a point of contact for other school families and promote our school in our community. If you enjoy being part of a team that is passionate about supporting our students, staff and wonderful school, you might like to consider nominating to be on school council. Our school benefits from having a diversity of ideas and opinions on school council.

Nominations are now open and this year we have 3 parent vacancies (for a two year term) and a casual vacancy of 1 year.

Thank you to the following parents who have been on school council, we are very appreciative of your time and commitment- Craig Wallace, jessica White, Lorelle Hickson. A special thank you to Michelle Baker who has been our school council president and has been a member of our school council for a number of years. Thank you all!

How do I nominate for school council?

From 2026, parents, carers and community members who would like to join the school council need a working with children (WWC) clearance to nominate. Please note that if you do not hold a WWC clearance, you will not be able to nominate for school council. Obtaining a WWC clearance is free for volunteers, and you can apply online at Service Victoria. When applying for your volunteer WWC check, please nominate the Department of Education as the organisation you are working for. If you already hold an employee WWC clearance, you do not need to obtain a volunteer WWC clearance to nominate for school council. Victorian Institute of Teaching-registered teachers and school students who are interested in joining school council are not required to obtain a WWC clearance. Current members of school council do not need to apply for a WWC check immediately. Current members only need a WWC clearance if their term ends and they wish to nominate or be co-opted again. For more information, refer to Ministerial Order 1280 (Constitution of Government School Councils) 2020.

Nomination forms are available from the office and must be returned by Friday 27 February.

You will notice that the front garden near the Webster St front door has been replanted, thank you Dan for making time the other day, and night, to do that! The plants look fantastic!

I have my fingers crossed that the weather forecast for rain on Sunday actually happens, our school gardens could defintely do with a good drink!

warm regards,

Carolyn.
