TERM 1 LIBRARY MONITORS

The College Resource Library would like to announce our Term 1 Library Monitors, congratulations to Lorraine, Logan, and Floyd. We look forward to working together with these students this term.

This program is facilitated by library staff and gives students from Grade 3 to Year 12 an opportunity at an extracurricular leadership role within the college. Library Monitors are responsible for a range of roles within the library space, including shelving books, keeping the space tidy, assisting with displays, brainstorming new programs with staff, and so much more.

READ AN EBOOK WEEK

Read an ebook week ran this past week from March 1-7 and it was all about showcasing the world of electronic books and the many ways readers can access them. The Library also promoted our eBook platform, with students exploring and becoming familiar with the site during their library sessions.

LUNCHTIME LIBRARY CLUBS

Term 1 Lunchtime Clubs in the Library have kicked off with an incredible turnout from our Prep to Year 12 students! Students have been loving our brand-new Zine Club, where they’ve been designing, writing, and decorating their very own mini books. Creators Club is already a favourite again this year, starting things off with some fun Valentine’s Day crafts. We’re also excited to launch our new Library Book Club this March, stay tuned for more details! It’s wonderful to see our library buzzing with creativity, connection, and collaboration each lunchtime.💕🎨

LIBRARY SESSION HIGHLIGHTS

It’s been a fantastic start to the year in the College Resource Library! A notable mention to Jyi (Year 4) and Emily (Year 7), who both featured in Magazine 8 of The InMag, with their creative art contributions. These magazines are a prominent feature in our library and a favourite amongst students. Well done Emily & Jyi! With borrowing commenced, students have enjoyed a strong return to exploring new books and favourite genres each week. During library sessions, students have also been participating in library revision activities, developing their reading confidence.

THE COLLEGE RESOURCE LIBRARY FEATURES IN THE SLAV FYI MAGAZINE!

We’re thrilled to share that the Kyabram P-12 College Resource Library has been featured, once again, in the SLAV FYI Magazine. This incredible magazine celebrates the vital role of school libraries across the state, and we’re thrilled to have our efforts highlighted in such a prominent publication. Late last year, we were approached by the publication to write a feature article on Book Week for the "reading for pleasure" edition. The article shines a spotlight on inspiring a culture of literacy through our Booktacular event in August 2025.

We’re honoured to be recognised for the dedication and creativity of our library team, and this recognition speaks volumes about the passion and commitment we bring to fostering a positive environment for reading and engagement. A big thank you to everyone who helped make this event unforgettable, and to SLAV for showcasing the fantastic work happening in school libraries across the state.
