Term 1
In Physical Education this year, all students from Kindergarten to Year 6 will be taught by Mr Coon, Mr So and Mr Russell, as well as the classroom teachers. During the first half of this term, sport lessons will focus on Newcombe Ball and Volleyball. Students will also continue practising their Fundamental Movement Skills.
In the second week, students continued a pre-assessment of their physical skills, focussing particularly on throwing and catching as well as some basic volleyball skills. This week the students were also assessed on their skills in performing an overarm throw as well as tapping a ball up into the air using a paddle bat. Students were taught to face the side, aim, and make a “muscle arm” before executing an overarm throw. They also practised their volleyball skills. They were taught to keep their elbows out and tap the ball with the fingertips while “setting”, and to hit the ball with the flat part underneath the wrist during “digging”.
Students continued practising the routines, making sure to be at the steps of the half basketball court at the start of their lesson, with their hat and a full drink bottle.

Last week the students completed PSSA trials for Basketball, Cricket and Touch Football.
Congratulations to the students who have been selected. The competition begins this Friday and selected students must return their permission note and pay before they are allowed to participate.
The Swimming Carnival held on Wednesday, 11 February at Parramatta Aquatic Centre was a vibrant and competitive event, bringing together students from various houses.
Participants showcased their skills in multiple swimming styles, including freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. The day was filled with enthusiastic cheering from spectators, creating an encouraging atmosphere for all swimmers.
Overall, the carnival was a successful celebration of sportsmanship and aquatic talent.
