Jas Fleming visits Essex Heights
Last Thursday all girls in Years 3 to 6 were given the opportunity to meet Jas Fleming, an AFLW Hawthorn player and head coach at Ashy Redbacks. It was awesome to see the girls having fun talking with Jas and kicking the footy. They asked Jas some interesting questions about why she started footy, her training schedule and any injuries she had.
Thanks so much to Vanessa from Ashy Redbacks AFL club for organising this great experience for our students.
Girls interested in playing AFL and joining the Ashy Redbacks training sessions at Burwood Reserve are welcome as follows:
- Under 9 Girls – 5pm, starting 11 March.
- Under 11 Girls – 5pm to 6pm
- Under 12 Girls – 6pm to 7pm
If the girls can't make their designated team's training time for whatever reason, they are welcome to come any time and Jas will include them in all the drills and the fun.
Karate Clinics with Sensei Kathryn
Last week all classes participated in a Karate session during P.E. lessons conducted by Sensei Kathryn from Karate Clinics Challenge Centre. The children learned some very important life lessons such as respect, sportsmanship, teamwork, encouragement, kindness, resilience and persistence while performing some Karate actions.
It was great to see the children working together to perform their personal best for the benefit of their team and congratulate each other whether they won or lost.
Every child received a certificate of participation and free sessions via the QR code.
