Term 4 News!

Term 4 began smoothly with students ready to learn, as our Year 12 cohort prepared for the concluding weeks of their secondary schooling.

They celebrated their final days of school very respectfully and were considerate of each other, younger students, and the school environment. Their conduct as they completed their schooling was a credit to themselves, their parents and carers, and their teachers.

Year 12 were congratulated and celebrated during an acknowledgement assembly culminating with the valedictory dinner that evening, where they were well supported by family, friends, and teachers.  Students are now mid exams and have been diligently studying as they prepare to do their best.

Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) will be available on Thursday 11 December, and Mrs Molloy will be available to assist students from that day, should they wish to adjust their VTAC preferences and receive course advice.

During week 3, Mrs Gerrard, ably assisted by Mr Ridgway, Mrs Allan, Mr Firman, Mr Wardle, Ms Kim, Ms Kenneally, Mr Corrie, and Mrs McColl, planned and facilitated an excellent Year 9 City Experience, including an overnight stay at Melbourne Zoo.

As always, staff received positive remarks in relation to the Scoresby Secondary College students and their behaviour. It was pleasing to hear students speak favourably about their experience and increased confidence with navigating the public transport system.

I am pleased to advise that the school achieved high in all categories within the 2025 School Level Report that was recently published and tabled at school council.  Whilst there is always a focus on continuous improvement, this outcome is a credit to our students, the support they receive from their families, and the commitment and hard work of our teachers.  The report was made available to the community on Compass along with last week’s news feed.

Children’s university graduates will be acknowledged at the Swinburne University Graduation Ceremony to be held at the Hawthorn campus on Thursday 27 November.

I congratulate Katie Allan 8C, Liam & Tom Schultz 8C, Kirean Gray 8C, Sahib Singh 8A, Evie Howarth 7A, Delilah Murphy 7A, Matthew Langford 7B, Liam Morley 7B, Anmol Paudel 7B, Addison Jones 11A, and Bek Howarth 11A for their application and endeavour, and look forward to celebrating their achievements with them, and their families, at the graduation ceremony.

School transitions is a key focus at this time of year, and Mrs Smith, ably supported by Mrs Allan, are busily working with primary schools to ensure that grade 6 students transition smoothly as they commence their secondary schooling journey.

I thank the many of our current Year 7 students who act as hosts and guides, ensuring that they assist grade 6 students to feel comfortable during pre-orientation day sessions.

The statewide Orientation Day will be held on Tuesday 9 December, preceded by a welcome BBQ and information evening on Monday 8 December.

The 2026 Student Voice and Leadership process has commenced. Prospective candidates are in the middle of completing a written application, then will present a speech voicing their plans for serving and leading their community, as they represent the student body at a whole school assembly.

Following this, all students and staff will vote, and interviews for College Captains will take place.

I look forward to advising the community of the 2026 student leadership team member in our final newsletter for the year.

On Monday 24 November, I invite our community to celebrate our student achievements throughout the 2025 school year at our presentation evening (Orion Night).

This day will also be the first day of our Launch Program where senior students will commence units 1 and 3 for their 2026 school year.
