Health and Physical Education (PE) News

In Health and PE our students continue to work positively and productively.

Our Year 7 students have begun a gymnastics unit where they are developing skills that they will soon use in a group routine for assessment.

Students are enjoying this unit where the emphasis is on fun, participation, safety and creativity.

Our Year 8 students are discovering and learning about games from different cultures. This has inspired each student to educate their peers about games and sports from their own cultures.

Our Year 9 students are enjoying the warmer weather and are developing skills and game etiquette in golf.

We always enjoy teaching the golf unit as student motivation increases when they realize that hitting a small stationary ball with a long stick is not as easy as they assume.

Year 9 students will also design their own pitch and putt, or mini golf courses.

Year 10 students continue to busily engage, and are specializing in either sport coaching, sport science or the ‘Mind, Body and Soul’ elective.

In our Health classes students continue to use their class time constructively as they learn about topics that include harm minimization, puberty and sexual reproduction.

We have also had senior students' complete exams in ‘Physical Education’ and ‘Health and Human Development’ and we trust that they have prepared well and will achieve the results that they deserve.

We continue to be impressed by the way our students actively involve themselves in all of our classes and look forward to this continuing for the remainder of term.

Earlier this term, 70 Scoresby Secondary College students proudly represented the school at the Division Athletics Carnival held at the Knox Athletics Track. It was a huge day of competition, energy, and teamwork, with our students giving it their all across a range of events.

A special shoutout goes to Brooklyn Giles, Zachary Bissett, Noah Paroissien , and Harrison Marlow, who had standout performances and progressed to the Regional Championships!

  • Brooklyn soared through the high jump, showing incredible focus and technique.
  • Zach dominated in both shot put and triple jump, putting on a powerful performance that earned him a spot at the State Championships.
  • Noah and Harry both impressed in javelin, competing strongly in their respective age groups and showing great skill and consistency.

This month, Zach Bissett went on to compete at the State Championships at Lakeside Stadium, proudly representing Scoresby on the biggest stage.

What an outstanding achievement!

Every student who competed demonstrated amazing sportsmanship, effort, and school pride.

We’re so proud of everyone who took part; you all represented Scoresby Secondary College brilliantly.

Bring on next year’s carnival!
