In P.E students have been eager participants in tennis, practising a variety of skills and identifying the fitness components that are important to the sport.

Junior students have begun with simply understanding the power required to hit the ball over a distance, by playing keepy uppy and counting how many hits they can make without dropping the ball.

Senior students began with refining their forehand strike and have practised having a partner underarm throw it to them so they can perform a forehand or backhand strike. Students also began playing modified tennis matches with a net and boundary area marked by cones to get some game sense into them.

In Art, students have wrapped up music and are now moving into practising Drama.

Junior students began identifying how when we act, we show emotions that we aren’t necessarily feeling, in order to entertain an audience and draw on experiences that make us feel particular emotions.

Senior students practised telling an event with no dialogue, by using body language and motions with our bodies to tell an event that had happened between two people. We have also learned that keeping a straight face while trying to show the audience that we are sad or upset can be a tricky task!

Last week, Grade 2/3/4 & Prep/1 students also had the opportunity to participate in a workshop done by Libby Lewis of the Hamilton Art Gallery. Students did their own Gelli Printing and practised putting designs on paper and then chose some designs to print onto their tote bags. We really loved Libby coming in and doing this activity with us.
