Prep/1 Classroom News

We have been very excited to welcome a student teacher into our classroom! Miss Fiona joined us on 10th November and will be with us for one more week. She has quickly become part of our learning community and has enjoyed getting to know all of the students. Over the past three weeks, we also had the pleasure of welcoming our 2026 Preps into our classroom. It has been wonderful to see them explore our learning space, and our students have done a fantastic job showing them how we follow our school values and classroom routines. We have loved spending time with them and helping them feel part of our school community.

In Reading, we have been exploring the story Wilfred Gordon McDonald Partridge, discussing the characters and events, and thinking about the important messages in the book. We have also finished reading The Imagineer, which inspired lots of creative ideas and imaginative thinking in our classroom discussions.

During Writing, students have been focusing on editing their own texts, learning to improve their sentences, add more detail, and make their ideas even clearer. This is helping them to become more confident and independent writers.

In Math, we have been learning to partition numbers into tens and ones, a key skill that helps students understand how numbers are built and prepares them for addition, subtraction, and place value concepts in the future. Students have enjoyed using hands-on materials and games to practice this skill.

Looking ahead, we are all very excited for our Prep/1/2/3 Day Out on 10th December. This special day will be a fun way for us to celebrate our learning and enjoy time together as a year level. Our classroom has been buzzing with learning, creativity, and friendship, and we are looking forward to finishing the year on a high note!
