Cricket has entered the chat …
Last week’s article on keeping the rhythm, with a focus on our First V Basketball team’s win over St Stanislaus’ College, Bathurst was somewhat of a premonition of what was to come for our First XI Cricket team on Saturday.
A similar but unique rhythm took form in the chaotic scenes that is wet-weather cricket. The boys faced a stop-start fixture interrupted by rain, covers-on-covers-off, umpire consultations, and the constant recalculations of reduced overs and required run rates – all in the context of slippery conditions and looming storm clouds.
It was a test of adaptability and recognition that sometimes rhythm isn’t about flow or momentum but about regaining it after each disruption we face. This is certainly something we all struggle with at times. It could be relationships, unexpected news, injuries or illness, or even just the school holiday break; it is often positive disruptions that can be the hardest to overcome.
The boys pulled off a memorable victory against Oakhill College, winning by four runs in a performance that tested the max heart rate of coach Mr Simpson.

It was great to see our Years 5 and 6 TheatreSports heats beginning Monday night. It’s wonderful that many young students are stepping up with confidence and creativity in this space. Personally, it was encouraging to see students from my daughter’s school attend the heats; a glimpse of what lies ahead for her and her peers in years to come.
Our music department also began its recital season Monday afternoon with the woodwind performances – the first of many sessions at the College throughout the week.
Finally, our SPC Swimming Invitational Carnival takes place this Friday evening at Ryde Aquatic Centre. Staff and students will host various schools for a night of fun and competition before Round 3 of ISA summer sport is upon us. Already!
I also wish our students the best for the various service and justice opportunities and events that are happening this week.
