What is your leadership portfolio?

Berg Prefect.

What is one way you hope to make a positive impact on the school community this year?

I want to help boys realise they don’t have to wait until Year 12 to appreciate school. Every day offers endless opportunities to spend time with mates, learn, better yourself, build relationships, and help the community. Too often, younger boys might waste time because they don’t see the good with the bad or recognise the potential that each day holds. I want them to find value in every year of their schooling journey.

If you could have dinner with any leader (past or present), who would it be and why? LeBron James, the greatest to ever do it. On the court, he represents leadership at its best, lifting his teammates and inspiring them to give their all while ensuring he performs at his highest level. Off the court, he’s a generous family man who has created million-dollar charities to support students in need, providing the kind of help his own family once needed. Over dinner, I would hope to learn from his admirable qualities and hear about his journey from humble beginnings to global success.

What motivates you on tough days?

The idea that I have the potential to influence and impact the world and those around me. Every day, I can make a difference, whether big or small. On tough days, I remind myself that the power to influence others comes with the responsibility to make that influence positive and to take advantage of every opportunity that comes my way.

What would be a good theme song for your life? Why?

“You’re Gonna Go Far” by Noah Kahan. The song captures the idea that if you truly love something, you should let it grow freely. I believe this reflects who I am. The best thing you can do for something or someone you care about is to give them the space to thrive independently. This selflessness is something I value deeply. I hope to see my friends and peers surpass me in every way, because that would mean they are succeeding on their own paths.

What is your leadership portfolio?

Coghlan Prefect.

This year, I want to focus on building strong relationships and fostering a sense of inclusiveness in everything I do. High school can be a tough time for some students, especially those who struggle to make friends or feel included. That’s why I believe in nurturing positive relationships with both peers and teachers. When times get tough, these connections provide support and help you return to a positive mindset.

As a House leader, I want all my boys to feel part of something meaningful. I want them to know that I am here for them, not just as a leader but as a friend, whether it’s about school, sport, or life in general. I’m excited to work alongside the leadership team, and especially within the Coghlan House, to strengthen inclusion and leave a lasting impact on the SPC community.

If you could have dinner with any leader (past or present), who would it be and why?

If I could have dinner with any leader, it would be Richie McCaw. He holds the record for the most Test match wins as Captain and led his team to back-to-back World Cup victories in 2011 and 2015. Richie is arguably the greatest leader in world rugby, known for his ability to unite his players toward a shared goal and lead by example. I would love to hear how he maintained success for so long and how he kept his team’s respect and motivation. Learning from his leadership would help me guide my House toward shared goals this year.

What motivates you on tough days?

On tough days, my motivation comes from the people who believe in me and want me to succeed. When I feel tired or unmotivated, I remind myself that my teachers and, most importantly, my parents, support me and want me to do my best. I also reflect on how fortunate I am and how important it is to make the most of what I’ve been given. There are many people in tougher situations, and remembering that helps me stay grounded, stop negative thoughts, and focus on moving forward.

What would be a good theme song for your life? Why?

“Use Somebody” by Kings of Leon. I believe that everyone needs someone in their life, whether it’s a friend, a family member, or a mentor. The song reminds us how much we rely on others and how deeply they influence our lives. It speaks to the importance of connection and support, both of which I value greatly.

What is your leadership portfolio?

Crichton Prefect.

What is one way you hope to make a positive impact on the school community this year?

I want to maintain and strengthen a positive house fraternity built on brotherhood, where all boys feel confident to be themselves. I aim to build meaningful connections across all year groups, offer support to anyone who needs it, and inspire hard work and perseverance. Alongside the other House Prefects, I want to grow College spirit through House events and extra-curricular activities, promoting SPC pride and encouraging boys to cherish their time at the College.

If you could have dinner with any leader (past or present), who would it be and why?

Karl Bushby, who is on track to become the first person to walk an unbroken path around the world. His achievements include surviving the world’s most dangerous jungle, the Darién Gap, crossing the unstable, frozen Bering Strait, and swimming across the Caspian Sea. I would love to hear his stories and learn how his outlook on life has evolved through such experiences. His resilience and courage would provide valuable lessons about endurance and mental strength.

What motivates you on tough days?

I remind myself that failure is not the end of my journey but part of God’s plan, helping me grow and improve. I also put my challenges in perspective by appreciating everything I am blessed with, which gives me a sense of responsibility to do my best. This mindset, along with the support of my family and friends, keeps me positive and ready to face adversity.

What would be a good theme song for your life? Why?

“Don’t Dream It’s Over” byCrowded House. The song reminds me that there is always hope, especially through connection with others. The lyrics, “There’s a battle ahead, many battles are lost,” highlight that failure is part of life but also an opportunity for growth. The line, “They come to build a wall between us, they won’t win,” speaks to the power of human connection and the importance of unity. It reflects how I aim to lead with determination and compassion.

What is your leadership portfolio?

Hanrahan Prefect.

What is one way you hope to make a positive impact on the school community this year?

I hope to build lasting connections with the boys this year. Being a St Pat’s boy brings a deep sense of pride, history, and brotherhood that lasts beyond Year 12. I want to help create an environment where everyone feels comfortable, valued, and motivated. I hope to inspire my House to persevere and encourage each other through genuine camaraderie. No matter the House, I want all boys to give their best effort and have fun doing so.

If you could have dinner with any leader (past or present), who would it be and why?

Brother Hanrahan, the first headmaster of the College, who was a brilliant scholar and a strong advocate for sport. His motto resonates with me: “Strive to achieve in all our endeavours, sporting or otherwise, with excellence, respect, and friendship.” I would love to hear his thoughts on how the College has evolved and learn from his example of servant leadership, which I hope to emulate.

What motivates you on tough days?

My family, friends, teachers, faith, and the community groups I’m part of. I’m fortunate to have such a strong support network, and on difficult days, I know I can turn to them for help. My faith also reminds me that I can seek guidance through prayer. Having meaningful connections is key to my wellbeing and my ability to lead with empathy.

What would be a good theme song for your life? Why?

“Opportunity” by Pete Murray. I’ve chosen this as my senior year anthem because it speaks about endings and new beginnings. Each closed chapter allows us to write the next one. The song reminds me of the opportunities ahead, built from the foundation and connections made at St Pat’s. It’s a bittersweet reminder to seize the moment, discover our hidden strengths, and face the unknown with confidence.

What is your leadership portfolio?

Hickey Prefect.

What is one way you hope to make a positive impact on the school community this year?

I hope to foster a stronger sense of community across the school. I want the boys in Hickey, and beyond, to feel inspired to get involved and give their best. I aim to be approachable to those who need guidance and to help revitalise school spirit with the other House Prefects. My goal is for every student to feel safe, valued, and like they belong, regardless of their House.

If you could have dinner with any leader (past or present), who would it be and why?

Marcus Aurelius, the great Roman emperor. He was loved for his humility, fairness, generosity, and compassion toward others. He redefined leadership through kindness, self-discipline, and service. I would love to learn from his wisdom and hear how he led with such balance and purpose.

What motivates you on tough days?

The little wins. It’s easy to get discouraged when things don’t go as planned, but I’ve learned that growth often happens quietly over time. My faith reminds me that God’s timing is never early or late but always right. When things feel difficult, I try to remember that every bit of effort and faith adds up to something greater. Even if I only have 40% to give, giving that 40% still means I’ve given my all.

What would be a good theme song for your life? Why?

“Firework” by Katy Perry. The song reminds me of the importance of self-worth and inner potential. The image of a “firework” represents the spark we all have within, even when we doubt ourselves. It encourages me to be confident in who I am and to help others recognise their own light and strength.

What is your leadership portfolio?

Rice Prefect.

What is one way you hope to make a positive impact on the school community this year?

I hope to be someone the boys remember, leaving behind a meaningful legacy. I aim not only to lead Rice House to success but also to inspire others to strive for it in years to come. I want every Rice boy to feel a strong sense of brotherhood and pride in our House. If, by the end of next year, boys across all year levels feel more connected to Rice and inspired to lead, I will know I’ve made a positive impact.

If you could have dinner with any leader (past or present), who would it be and why?Alessandro Del Piero. He’s regarded as one of football’s greatest leaders, not only for his skill but for his humility, loyalty, and professionalism. Despite challenges, including his club’s relegation, he stayed committed, leading through example rather than words. When he came to Sydney FC, he inspired others through his attitude and work ethic. I’d love to ask him about staying calm under pressure, adapting to change, and leading with quiet confidence.

What motivates you on tough days?

Purpose. On difficult days, I remind myself why I’m doing what I’m doing. It’s easy to dwell on obstacles, but focusing on the end goal keeps me going. Motivation isn’t about temporary excitement but about perseverance and using challenges as stepping stones to improvement.

What would be a good theme song for your life? Why?

“That’s Life” by Frank Sinatra. It captures the ups and downs we all face and the importance of resilience. The song reminds me to get back up after setbacks and keep moving forward. It reflects my belief that success comes from persistence and a positive mindset, no matter what life throws your way.

What is your leadership portfolio?

Learning and Technology Prefect.

What is one way you hope to make a positive impact on the school community this year?

This year, I hope to make a positive impact by cultivating a school environment where learning is embraced as a rewarding and engaging pursuit. Furthermore, I aim to facilitate a supportive and seamless educational journey, ensuring that every student, regardless of their aspirations, is able to grow intellectually.

If you could have dinner with any leader (past or present), who would it be and why?

I would have dinner with Steve Jobs. Not only was he the founder of one of the most influential technology companies in the world, but his ability to transform simple ideas into innovations that reshaped the world deeply motivates me. His willingness to challenge conventions and encourage others to pursue excellence reminds me that true leadership is not about individual authority, but about empowering others to see the world in new and meaningful ways. I would love to meet with him to understand how he managed to inspire others around him to think differently and, in turn, change the world.

What motivates you on tough days?

Something that motivates me on tough days is completing small activities that give me a subtle yet rejuvenating boost of energy. Whether it be listening to music, going for a walk, playing with my dog, or kicking a ball outside, it’s the small things like this that help me reset, recharge and get through the rest of a challenging day.

What would be a good theme song for your life? Why?

“Viva La Vida” by Coldplay would be a good theme song for my life. In my opinion, this song perfectly captures the meaning of life — that ultimately, despite the ups and downs, we should aim to appreciate change and find purpose in both success and failure. I find this resonates with my optimistic outlook on life, as I constantly seek to find purpose, meaning and opportunities for growth in every experience, regardless of whether it is good or bad.

What is your leadership portfolio?

Co-Curricular (Cultural) Prefect.

What is one way you hope to make a positive impact on the school community this year? One way I can make a positive impact on the school community is by encouraging students to express themselves and showcase their talents. There are a vast number of different skills, hobbies and passions, each with their unique features and nuances. My vision for the College is one that inspires each student to be their own person instead of getting lost in the crowd. I wish to create opportunities for people to express themselves through the cultural co-curricular aspect of the College, such as music and the performing arts. I also wish to carry myself in a positive way to make others feel more confident in themselves, to try new things while they are at school, and to pursue the things they are interested in.

If you could have dinner with any leader (past or present), who would it be and why?

Roger Federer is a leader that I would like to have dinner with. He may be primarily known for his effortless skill and sportsmanship in tennis, but he also exemplifies many traits of a leader. On the court, he was a graceful player who found ways to win any match. Off the court, he was working incredibly hard when nobody watched. He was a leader in tennis because of his dedication and effort, allowing him to push the sport to new heights while maintaining good relations with all players, including his greatest rival, Rafael Nadal. Post-retirement, he continues to support tennis and is heavily involved in charity through the Roger Federer Foundation, helping to provide early education and using his influence to lead positive change throughout the world. This inspires me to help others whenever I can.

What motivates you on tough days?

Something that motivates me on tough days is reminding myself of perspective- that the challenges will not last, and to stay grounded as much as possible. I like to imagine life as a long hike over tall mountains and through deep valleys. When we move through this hike of life, it is important to remind ourselves that the exhilarating feeling of reaching the peak of a mountain does not last, and the sinking feeling of a brutal challenge will eventually come to an end. No moment, good or bad, lasts forever, and there is always something new and exciting waiting for us on the other side of a tough challenge or setback. That thought motivates me to keep going.

What would be a good theme song for your life? Why?

“My Way” by Frank Sinatra would be a good theme song for my life. As I am nearing the end of my high school and childhood journey, this song has helped me reflect on the experiences I have had and the memories I have made. It is a subtle reminder to try everything, leaving no stone unturned, as we only live once and must make the most of the time we have. To me, it is also a reminder to live authentically and to do things my way. All of us are unique with different personalities and traits. Our lives should not simply follow others but actively carve a path into the future, living by the values we most strongly believe in. When we look back on our choices, we should have few regrets and a full experience of the world.

What is your leadership portfolio?

Co-Curricular (Sport) Prefect.

What is one way you hope to make a positive impact on the school community this year?

Throughout my time as Co-Curricular Sport Prefect at the College, I hope to make a positive impact on the school community by encouraging greater participation, unity, inclusivity and pride in our sporting culture. I want to help create an environment where every student wants to be involved, whether it be through playing or supporting. By promoting teamwork, respect and school spirit, I aim to strengthen the sense of belonging among students and ensure that sport continues to be a positive and inclusive part of the College. Additionally, I hope to be a mentor to the students of SPC, celebrating effort and improvement, and being part of a college that is proud of its sporting community.

If you could have dinner with any leader (past or present), who would it be and why?

If I could have dinner with any leader, it would certainly be Nelson Mandela. I would choose Nelson in hopes of learning from his courage, resilience and ability to bring people together even in the toughest situations. Hearing about his experiences and how he led with forgiveness, empathy and vision would greatly inspire me to lead for unity, respect and positive change. Understanding how he remained true to his values and maintained hope during hardship would help me approach challenges in my own life and leadership with determination and a focus on making a meaningful impact.

What motivates you on tough days?

Knowing that every challenge I face is an opportunity to grow and improve motivates me on tough days. I remind myself of the goals I have set and the people who support me, including family, teammates and friends. This helps me stay focused and positive. Seeing the progress that comes from hard work always pushes me to keep going and give my best. In addition, my faith in God helps me stay motivated, humble and grateful, reminding me to appreciate what I have.

What would be a good theme song for your life? Why?

A perfect theme song for my life would be “Don’t Look Back in Anger” by Oasis. I chose this song because it helps me remember to be positive, forget past mistakes and move forward. It gives me strength and encouragement to meet challenges calmly and thoughtfully rather than looking back in bitterness. The hopeful and forgiving message promotes humility and learning from experiences, making it a good reflection of how I seek to live.

What is your leadership portfolio?

Student Wellbeing Prefect.

What is one way you hope to make a positive impact on the school community this year?

I want to make a positive impact on the SPC community by helping to create an environment where every student feels comfortable opening up about their mental health. Being at an all-boys school, I know that many young men find it difficult to speak about what they are going through. I have seen how much of a difference it makes when someone listens and genuinely cares, and I want to be that person for others.

Through different initiatives and open conversations, I hope to raise awareness about the realities of mental health and remind students that it is okay to reach out for support. My goal is to be someone others can rely on — a friendly face who understands what it is like to go through tough times and who encourages others to look out for their mates. By doing this, I hope to help build a stronger, more supportive community where everyone feels valued and heard.

If you could have dinner with any leader (past or present), who would it be and why?

If I could have dinner with any leader, I would choose Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. He is someone who leads with positivity, resilience and authenticity. I really admire how open he is about his own struggles with mental health and how he uses his platform to remind men that it is okay to be vulnerable. He inspires people to keep pushing forward no matter what challenges they face. I would love to learn from him about how to balance strength and compassion, two qualities I believe are essential for good leadership. His story shows that success does not come without setbacks and that true leadership is about lifting others up while staying genuine and grounded.

What motivates you on tough days?

My family and friends motivate me, as they constantly remind me of the importance of support, care and love. Knowing that I have people who genuinely believe in me helps me push through challenges and stay grounded. I also draw strength from my growing connection to my faith in God, which reminds me to stay patient, humble and grateful even when things feel difficult.

On tough days, I remind myself that every setback is an opportunity to grow stronger, both mentally and spiritually. My faith teaches me that perseverance and trust in God’s plan always lead to something greater. I also find motivation in the idea that others may be facing silent struggles of their own, and by staying resilient, I can be a source of encouragement to them.

What would be a good theme song for your life? Why?

A good theme song for my life would be “Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley. The song’s message that “every little thing is gonna be alright” is a constant reminder for me to stay positive and resilient when times may seem tough. It reflects my belief in keeping calm, trusting in God’s plan, and finding peace in the simple things. It reflects how I try to approach life with calmness and optimism, even when things do not go to plan. Its simple message of peace and reassurance connects to how I want others to feel around me — that no matter what is going on, there is always hope and a reason to smile.
