WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING! (1 of 1)

YEAR 3 & 4 OASIS CAMP- ADVENTURE, LAUGHTER & VERY LITTLE SLEEP!
By Carrie Scampton (Year 3 & 4 Coordinator)
Our Year 3 and 4 students had an absolutely fantastic time at Oasis Camp, Mt Evelyn, diving into a week of adventure, teamwork, and new experiences. From the flying fox and giant swing to rock climbing, archery, candle making, and a fascinating reptile educational experience, every activity gave students the chance to discover new strengths and overcome challenges.
It was wonderful to see so many students push themselves, cheer one another on, and try something different. Hearing spontaneous cheers from peers when someone stepped out of their comfort zone was very special - a true reflection of the encouragement and care within this combined group.
Evenings brought their own fun, with movie night, games, and some relaxing drawing. As for sleeping… well, let’s just say the girls’ cabins were buzzing well past bedtime with endless stories, giggles, and “just one more chat.” By sunrise, there were a few very tired eyes (and perhaps a few teachers reaching for extra coffee), but the students still managed to embrace the day and enjoy their final activity rotations with impressive enthusiasm.
We were all big fans of the delicious camp meals and would like to extend a huge thank you to the Oasis catering team for keeping everyone well-fed and energised - we certainly needed it!
The camp was truly a highlight of the year, filled with laughter, courage, and the joy of new friendships as students mixed and supported one another. A heartfelt thank you to our amazing BHCS staff for their energy, patience, and extra effort in making this camp a memorable adventure for all involved.
YEAR 6 CSEN ACADEMIC CHALLENGE DAY
By Darren Horton (Year 6 Co-Ordinator)
On Tuesday 28th October, eight very eager Year 6 students represented our school at the exciting CSEN Challenge Day event, joining students from seven Christian schools from Melbourne’s South East.
Our students were divided into two teams — Heroic Heights and Belgrave Bandits — and worked together to tackle a series of stimulating challenges in Mathematics, Science, Literacy, and Writing. Each activity encouraged teamwork, problem-solving, and creative thinking.
The students found the day both interesting and engaging, representing our school with great enthusiasm, effort, and pride.
It was an awesome opportunity for our students to extend their learning, collaborate with others, and experience the joy of academic challenge. Thank you to Mrs Whittingham, Mrs Humbert and Mr Kelly for the contributions they made to make the day a success.
Well done to our wonderful Year 6 team!
YEAR 10 ROADSMART INCURSION
By Elijah Halliday and Leah Nicholls (Year 10 Coordinators)
On Wednesday 5 November, our Year 10 students took part in the Victorian Road Smart Interactive incursion, which is a free program provided by the Victorian Government. Road Smart Interactive uses the latest immersive technology to engage students in thinking about how they can be part of the solution to making everyone safer on our roads. It was a great day that consisted of sessions for each class designed to create an awareness of road safety in a fun and interactive way.
The program is aimed at young people by supporting them to develop skills and knowledge to be safe pedestrians, cyclists, passengers and future drivers. Students were able to simulate driving scenarios using VR headsets and iPads, putting their skills to the test, and learning more about how to stay safe on our roads! Thank you to all who were involved, including the students, facilitators and supervising teachers.
