FOOD TECH

Over the past couple of weeks, students have been busy in the kitchen baking carrot cake slices, panisses (chickpea fries) and cooking up red curry Singapore noodles. For many, it was their first time trying carrot cake slice, and they were pleasantly surprised — lots of them said they’d love to bake it again! The Singapore noodles were another big hit, with plenty of happy taste-testers enjoying the new flavours.

Students are becoming quite confident when baking and are excited to keep exploring different recipes. They’re also growing more comfortable using the hot plates safely while cooking.

Alongside their cooking sessions, students have been exploring cuisines and foods from around the world. They’ve been researching different appetisers, main dishes, and desserts, and discovering lots of interesting facts about how food brings people together across different cultures. They’ve also learned about the benefits of eating carrots, explored the journey of rice from farm to plate, and even discovered how to make simple Chinese noodles from scratch.
