From the Assistant Principal, Cocurricular
Many thanks for the collective efforts in getting the summer season fully underway last Saturday. I take this opportunity to remind all members of the community that the college subscribes to the ISA and IPSHA Codes of Conduct. I ask all who attend Saturday sport that they familiarise themselves with these documents below. I remind everyone that we are not playing for sheep stations, but rather for enjoyment.
Mr Matt Stearn - Assistant Principal, Cocurricular

Special mention to some standout performances:
Joshua Zhao (13B) and Michael Shad showed great determination in a close contest.
Isaac Requin (13D) and Mav Sheriff impressed in their strong win.
James Mikan (14B) and Hunter Austin led their team to a convincing victory.
Jack Manning-O’Donnell (3rd V) and Enrico Basso were instrumental in their home win.
Looking Ahead – Round 2
Round 2 is coming up this weekend. Please check Clipboard regularly, as there have been fixture changes involving Oakhill. Below you’ll find a home and away fixture card for planning purposes. Please note:
Fixtures are subject to ISA adjustments.
Times and venues will be uploaded to Clipboard once confirmed with opposition schools.
We’re working hard to get all unconfirmed fixtures into Clipboard as soon as possible.
Thank you for your patience and support as we continue to provide the best experience for all players.
Code of Conduct
As we continue through the season, we’d like to take a moment to remind all players and families of the importance of upholding the ISA Code of Conduct.
We ask that everyone continues to participate in fixtures in a fair, respectful, and positive manner, both on and off the field. At St Pius X, we pride ourselves on playing in the right spirit and holding ourselves to a high standard, regardless of the result.
A sincere thank you to the many families who consistently support this approach each week, whether we win, lose, or draw. Your example sets the tone for our teams and reflects the values we stand for as a school.
Let’s continue to represent SPX with pride, integrity, and sportsmanship in every fixture.
Please see Mr Stearn's Assistant Principal, Cocurricular section above to view the code.

ISA Round 1 – Saturday 25 October 2025
1st XI 9/163 (Archie Wragge 90, Miles Moran 20) in 49.5 overs defeated Oakhill College 9/162 (Dan Carroll 3-12 , Jack English 2-19, Miles Moran 2-37)
in 50 overs
The 1st XI travelled to Oakhill for Round 1 of the ISA Division 1 competition. In a nail-biting finish Dan Carroll hit the winning runs on the second last ball of the 50th over to secure a one wicket victory for St Pius X!
Tight bowling, especially from Jack English, Dan Carroll, and Brody Mendel (0-17 from 10 overs) kept Oakhill’s batters under pressure. Good catches from Charlie Chippendale, Rory Rapa, and Archie Wragge assisted a disciplined 1st XI effort in the field.
In reply, Archie Wragge and Oliver Freeman combined for a promising 56 run partnership. However, wickets fell regularly and the game tightened up for a close finish. Archie Wragge stood strong throughout an outstanding innings that included solid defence and fine stroke making. He received valuable support from Miles Moran. The loss of some late wickets led to a dramatic finish when numbers 10 and 11, English and Carroll did the job to bring the victory for Pius!
ISA Round 2 – Saturday 1 November 2025
1st XI v St Stanislaus’ College at St Stanislaus’ Main Oval, Bathurst
2nd XI v St Gregory’s College at Oxford Falls #1

Squash
St Pius X had a mixed start to the season walking away with two wins. Squash Captain, Cameron Giang, dominated his matches as one man team SPX 1, dispatching both his opponents in quick succession. SPX 3 had a narrow win by 2 points against Barker 7 and Pat Buono of SPX 6 also represented his team admirably, playing his first competition game without his teammate and while he eventually lost he made his opponents fight for every point forcing games to go beyond the 15 point matches they’re supposed to be. Unfortunately, there was no success at Thornleigh last weekend.
Mr Joe Madani - Squash Convenor
